If you haven't watched the entire series, that's fine. Your preference. But SAO has probably the single most impactful scene I've ever seen in an anime, for all that it isn't 'the most depressing I've ever watched' there's one scene in the first season that I'd mark as the most heart-wrenching scene in any anime ever. If you didn't cry at that moment, you have no heart. Whether you liked the anime or not - and as I said, fine if you don't, everyone has their own tastes - that subarc and its conclusion were utterly traumatizing and to deny that is an admission of your own heartlessness.
Just because you don't cry at a tearful moment doesn't mean you have no heart. I didn't cry in Episode 18 of Clannad ~ After Story ~, I laughed. Does that make me a monster then? Also... there's only one season, you make it sound as if there are two or more.

School days was kind of depressing. He drove two girls crazy, got killed, then his killer got killed, then went off on a trip lol. Clannad after story was probably the worst. Probably since I watched the entire series pretty much without a break.

I say Shuffle was the most depressing anime I have ever seen I literally started having anxiety attacks during and even 2 years after seeing it. clannad after story I saw after Shuffle but still the same results.
My therapist said the shows are a result of a trauma I have been through and that the relations between my life and the shows are similar in many ways which caused me to relive those events. I loved those shows and I don't regret watching them. Also the very last episode of Angel Beats even though everyone can agree the ending was a total tear jerker.
