If its business related, it is better to be over-dressed, first impressions makes a big impact. If you are unsure whether a certain outfit would be ok for the occasion, then dress formal.

At worst, being over dressed will make people think you take this shit serious and professional or that it's your style. It's actually fine for when you're out somewhere casual as people will just think that's your thing and for anything that actually is important, you're a ok.

At worst, being under dressed will make it seem like you just don't give a fuck. This could be horrific for any occasion where it actually is something that you give a fuck about and would want to make a good first impression.

It's always better to be over dressed than under dressed as I think that 99% of the time it's better to visually show that you care rather than that you don't.

If you're overdressed you will look especially attractive to the opposite sex. Those of the same gender as you are will just be jealous. (Unless they're gay ) So if you are going somewhere where there will be mostly people of your same gender, then maybe you should err on the side of dressing down so you won't look like a butt-kissing stuffed shirt. If it is mostly a mix or opposite gender filled event then dress to kill, and let the drooling commence.

Definitely over dressed. In general I`d say I`m always over dressed. I feel comfortable dressing this way cos idk I`m used to it hahahah

Sometimes, rare occasions I under dress when I get reaaaal lazy or for a change. It doesn`t feel like I`m myself when I am under dressed lol.

Its a close call as both can be terrible given the situation. Still I'd say that its better to over dress as you can usually make dressy outfits less formal rather than the reverse on the fly. Ex. Take off your tie, untuck your shirt, and roll up your sleeves for guys.

id say underdressed. but not like dressing up like a bum. i mean like t-shirts and jeans. u could always play the rebel/punk role that's trying to crash an event. haha. that's what i do.

but if the event's job-related...(im still studying so i dont do this)...try wearing coat-tie-everything. need to look smart and everything to impress.

Is it better to be underweight or overweight? Both suck and are, IMO, equally unhealthy. Furthermore, if you walk into a building where an event created by SOMEONE ELSE is taking place, you ought to abide by their rules - IMO, anything else is inexcusable. But I might say the closer you are to what is ideal, - whether you've overdressed or underdressed - the better. Someone pinching you on the arm and causing distracting discomfor for 2 minutes is better than breaking your leg, no?

Haha, that's funny. I don't go to formal events so there is not much I can help you with there. The last orientation I went to was for college 3 years ago and I just wore jeans and a nice shirt. I don't pay attention to the bad things people try to say about me.

I tend to over-dress a lot mostly cuz of swag. Yup, its all about swag. I under-dress when I'm going to a place where I know there's not going to be much swag their so I figure, whats the point.

Most of the time, I like to be overdressed.. but then I have days when I just don't give a fuck. From my experience, the general consensus is that I look "cool" when I dress like IDGAF...

It's better to be overdressed because it's easier to play off than being under-dressed. That said the odds of me showing up to something under-dressed are significantly higher than the odds of me being overdressed. Worst comes to worst I can take my top off, if i'm not going to make a good impression may as well make a lasting one.

Underdressed is worse IMO.
If you're over dressed you just look like a classy sir/madam.
The internet taught me that there is nothing wrong with that.
