Group of Men Have Played Game of Tag for 23 Years
|
Wow, this was one of the funniest articles I've read in a long time. Just as the title says, there's a group of men that have spent the last 23 years playing a game of tag. Here's a short snippet of the article that basically explains the game:
"The game they play is fundamentally the same as the schoolyard version: One player is "It" until he tags someone else. But men in their 40s can't easily chase each other around the playground, at least not without making people nervous, so this tag has a twist. There are no geographic restrictions and the game is live for the entire month of February. The last guy tagged stays "It" for the year. That means players get tagged at work and in bed. They form alliances and fly around the country. Wives are enlisted as spies and assistants are ordered to bar players from the office." Here is the full article for more detail (it's quite hilarious as they talk about hiding in cars, bushes, breaking and entering a house!, etc - it's unbelievable the lengths they go to "tag" someone else ):http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323375204578269991660836834.html?mod=WSJ_article_comments#articleTabs%3Darticle I can't imagine playing this version of tag myself, I think I would start to get paranoid after a while - always looking over my shoulder, under my car and around every corner, etc. Would this be a game any of you would like to try with your buddies? In the article, I think they stated that they did this to help them stay in touch. Personally, this wouldn't be my 1st idea of staying in touch, but I'm glad it works for these guys though. |

To each their own, but I would think a 23yr old game of paintball would be more up my alley, and way less corny....

Awesome
Personally if I'm going to be in a game like this the prize should be suitably awesome though. I'll have to see what the article says about prizes though. Also this probably isn't for me since I hate being sneaked up on as it makes me want to use my martial arts and someone, possibly me, would get hurt. |

I'm a little on the paranoid side, but I think it's not a bad idea. A lot of people lose touch with each other after a while, but not if you're playing tag!!!
Really funny article though, would be a nice excuse to travel "Yeah, I gotta head to Arizona so I can tag X , be back in a week" |
