I have never had ONE friend NOT laugh their asses off when they come into my room. I have a bookshelf so full of manga I have to freaking try to shove them in some place because I no longer have any room. (and it's a large bookcase mind you)
My ex boyfriend in particular would always tease me about it, but he was quite nice about it and would always try his best to deal with my inner nerd.

Hmm...Idk, I just try force anime and manga to become other peoples obsession, don't really care what they think, haha.
I have a ton of manga-style drawings and I guess some people don't want to look at them...because they think anime is only sexual. Huh...lol!
Not ALL my drawings are nudeys!! Jk.

If someone asks what I'm into I'd probably mention anime but I don't go around broadcasting it or anything. A lot of people think it's for kids. I've even known some women that think that but are into Disney cartoons haha.

When I start dating a guy, the first thing I tell him is I watch anime. And that it's been a bit of an unhealthy obsession for a while now. They don't seem to mind. My friends all know about my playing video games and watching anime so when they call and I don't answer they assume I'm doing either of the two. Or homework.

You should always tell, that is the only way people can ever trust you.

I bring it up when questions about my hobbies come up with new friends. But I also love making movies and music, playing video games, and helping out the community. So on one hand my anime obsession might freak people out, but I feel like I'm a multi-faceted person that has a lot to offer. On the other hand, if people overlook all the things I am and only want to be bothered by the fact that I enjoy anime, I've got NO time for them.

If the only thing you obsess over is anime, it's not a bad thing. But you'll have to understand that people may be turned off by that fact. If they are, don't stress and move on.

But I do think it helps to be a worldly person...

Yeah, but most people didn't know what it was. And it got awkward when I told them. And then they had another reason to bully me. LOL.

When I go out into town with my mates they will always go to the movie section of HMV to look at the case of the new Batman film (ironically) or what ever. I will then go to the tiny anime section. I made the fatal mistake of buying 'The Girl That Leapt Through Time' and I got ridiculed all the way home on the bus by them asking why I brought and I quote 'That Japanese hentai crap' I tried to explain anime to them but they are too close minded. I do have other friends that like it though. I cant say whether you should say or not because I have always told and some accept it others don't. but what ever you do DO NOT BE ASHAMED!!!
