Description: A group of strangers find themselves in a strange forest. Unbeknownst to them, they have no idea how or why they got there. All they know is, they are stuck together, being forced to get to know each other and more about themselves, they go on an adventure in this forest, which happens to also be in the middle of nowhere, to hopefully find their forgotten memories.
Behold, this is not any ordinary forest. Strange and eerie things occur on an every day basis. Is it the supernatural? Is it some sort of magic? This forest is a questionable place, indeed. Anything could happen. Monsters could appear at any instant, the possibilities are endless - and frightening. Will these strangers learn to live together, or die trying?
* * * Prologue * * *
She awoke, eyes adjusting to the sudden change in scenery. She tried to gather her bearings, soft grass beneath her, a bit itchy to her skin, hot sun, white passing clouds, it must have been the season of spring, perhaps. The scent of the air just had that spring scent. Trees, there were lots of trees. This place must have been a forest, a forest where she knew she had to find a way out of. How did she even get here?
She couldn't remember.
Slowly picking herself up, she felt her knees weak and bones a bit frail, just how long has she been passed out in this clearing anyway? Stretching around a bit and letting out a long groan in exasperation, she continued to survey the area while she was here, hoping to find food and water soon.
She spotted a bush, squinting her eyes as she noticed something in the bush move. She watched a bunny hop out in front of her, white and fluffy with big black eyes, and then it scurried away before she could even process that that might have been her only source of food that just ran off.
She had no desire to kill a poor, innocent creature, but she would get hungry soon, and she knew her stomach would overpower her mind so she can no longer sympathize for that creatures life. With a sense of desperation, she continued walking around some more, watching up above as birds would fly across some tree canopies, chirping a song she continued to mimic while she walked, whistling to the tune in hopes of calming her nerves.
As she walked around, she realized the scenery never really changed; it was like walking in a maze. Maybe that's just what it was, a forest of mazes. She tried to think back, think back long and hard, but she couldn't receive any answers. Her memories were completely gone, and any memories that she thought she had, were of dark shadows and unexplained events that she couldn't even understand.
She didn't know her name, where she was from, or even how old she was. All she knew now, was that she was in this forest and she was alone.
She heard something. From a distance, it seemed like the sound of water.
She listened well, and ran to the sound with a hopeful smile on her face.
Not watching her feet, she stumbled upon a log and tripped over it, face first into the ground. Laying there, she found herself unable to get up. The bones in her limbs and arms refused to move, and she lay there, weeping. She tried to find a reason to cry, but only found one she dwelled on. Who was she?
* * * *
A few minutes, perhaps hours must have passed, and it was dark. At least in her mind, it was dark. She was running aimlessly in a straight line, breathing hard as she kept running, running, running...
Gradually opening her eyes, she felt her body being carried somewhere, on top of someones back.
A quiet gasp of air left her, as if being the first time, in a long time. She dropped her head against the strangers back, quietly sobbing.
The feeling felt like a prick of a sword to her heart, and the tears wouldn’t stop running down her cheeks; they met her mouth and tasted of salt. She didn’t know why she was crying, she didn’t have a reason. She couldn’t remember a reason to. She would guess it would be the emptiness that accompanied her forgotten memories.
There was a tinge of warmth in her pale cheeks as the voice of a male spoke to her, so softly, almost as if his effort alone was to cease her heart from crying.
“Hey,” the voice was a polite whisper, “Don’t cry.”
Through still moistured eyes, she watched the back of his head move with each step he took, closely examining his hair line, black hair, a bit spiky. Their was a certain scent to him, she couldn't describe it. He smelled like Spring itself, maybe like a flower. She had finally calmed down a bit when he lay her on something soft, looking toward the source of water she'd heard before. It was a waterfall, and she'd watched the man walk toward it with such grace.
“What is your name?” His voice was soft and warm, she sensed not even a bit of hostility toward him, almost as if he'd lived in these woods for a long time.
There was no response from the girl though, but she let her senses take everything in. The sights and sounds of her surroundings, the smell of everything, the splashing of the water soothing her soul.
“Do you... not have one?”
At this, she shook her head to answer him, somehow, she knew she would still be accepted by this stranger.
“Hmm. . .” He turned around then, looking like an angel standing in front of the waterfall.
“Mila.” He said, almost making it sound so natural, like that had really been her name.
She found herself smiling, her eyes glowing with a certain reassurance. She liked that name, she liked that name a lot.
The strange girl who had forgotten her past, had just been given a name. She didn’t know why she was here, but one thing for sure, she wasn't alone anymore.
She would live on. She would live on with this new name, this new identity.
Yet, she had a lack of knowledge of this new world, but she trusted this man to feed her that knowledge, to re-create her memories.
Who was she now? She was Mila.
