Why should I have to fill out a form for extra money that I do not want? Why can't the IRS just take the necessary funds out of my paycheck and leave it at that?

If you don't want the money, then donate it to a charitable organization, such as Child's Play.

But why can't the IRS just keep the money that they collect from me? Why do I have to fill out the form to begin with? I would rather have my money stay with the IRS than waste my time filling out a form.

Seriously?! While filing U.S. Income tax returns is not easy (particularly as you get older and more established, and your income stream and life/family situation get more complex), far be it from me to just let the government keep money that's rightfully mine, for which I worked hard to get. I'm all for simplfying the tax situation, but until then, I'm willing to fill out the forms for what for me is refunds in the several thousand dollar range. On the flip side, if you end up owing the IRS and didn't file a return, determine the amount owed, and pay up, they can and likely will come after you eventually.

But why can't the IRS establish a proper tax rate so that I do not end up oweing anything to them in April? I do not care about extra money, it means nothing to me. They should not force people to fill out a form that is predominately for them to receive money back from the government. There should just be set tax rates that are automatically taken out of every paycheck, we shouldn't be forced to fill out a form.

Talk about being fucking ungrateful.
You live in one of the best countries in the world, with heaps of luxuries, and yet you still have the nerve to complain about having to fill out a form that will grant you more luxury? Who do you think you are?

Don't you think they're working on establishing a proper tax rate? If it was that simple, I'm pretty sure they would've done it already. That would make sense, don't you think?

And if you don't care about it, then what's the problem? Just leave it there.
Or even better, fill out the form and send the money to someone else. To a charity organization. Some place where it can do some good.
How about taking that little time out of your life to making someone else's lives better instead of complaining about having to fill out a form like an entitled little bitch?

I think it's nice to go over my taxes and see what I made, how much I made, and how I could do better. (I work a full time job, and am a performer/DJ outside of that, I also play the stocks.) Plus, the returns give me a little boost in picking up stuff I need for the new year, or using on my hobbies. I plan on hitting Ikea with my return this year and going for some Detolf's, and a few other things!

It's a necessary evil, go ahead and don't file though. You will wind up with TONS of problems instead of just getting them over with and not worrying about them till the next year.

Do you want to receive tax returns? If you do, you are more of an entitled little bitch than I will ever be.

EDIT: LOL I just saw your profile, talk about being hypocritical and accusing someone of laziness.

Are you actually equating writing a profile-text on a site that I rarely use, and has no practical application what so ever to filing a simple paper that could potentially vastly improve someone else's lives? Are you serious?

And if that's how you feel, then how about you go ask someone who deals with that stuff to put that suggestion forward?
And then get the people to agree with it.

And yes, at this time, I do. Because I don't have a job that pays so good that tax returns has no impact on me. So until I earn so much that that tax return is irrelevant to me, then I do want them. Because I can use them for better things. Either making my own or other people's lives better.
And no. That doesn't make me more entitled than someone who feels like it's too much work to file a paper.
I'd GLADLY sign a paper that I was otherwise indifferent towards if it meant it could give someone else a better life. You apparently, would not.

No, I have no problem with donating any amount of extra money to charity, thank you very much. You are the one that jumped to conclusions and tried to paint me as a villian.

And that would make you a self-centered person who does not have the right to bash other people for not donating to charity. If you did not have enough money for physiological needs, you wouldn't have the time to go on this website and read the various forums. Since this is not the case, it is obvious that you have enough money to donate to charity if you so chose to.

You managed to do that perfectly fine yourself by complaining about how much of a bother it is to fill out a simple form.

Indeed, I am self-centered. Because I am a part of a self-centered species.
That does not mean I ONLY care about myself, nor does it mean that I will not donate to charity. Because I do donate to charity.
But yes, I do pefer living slightly above the bare necessities of what I need to survive.
I actually find it a bit weird of you to accuse me of this, since you said in your other thread that life still isn't good enough...

And yes, I DO have the right to bash someone who would have no problem donating to charity, but doesn't because they're too lazy to fill out the form.

Why do you think that I do not fill out the form? Why do you think that I will not donate to charity?

I would rather have that money stay in the hands of the government.
