Dragon Ball Z

There must be a hidden rule in anime that your not allowed to flame the mighty Dragon ball Z master race . Just like how music lovers are not allowed to flame the Beatles

Look Nostalgiafags I dont care if DBZ is your first anime !!

Sword Art Online is not overrated. It's absolute garbage, it extends FAR beyond Overrated-ness. How do people hate Twilight so much but like SAO? I can barely see the difference. So, I wouldn't put SAO up there because to be overrated, you need to have SOMETHING redeemable, but easily, it's the worst show I have ever seen in my life. I could write 500 page speeches about why it sucks but I don't want to bore anyone, it's incredibly self-indulgent and cliche. It's Twilight.

I can agree for the orginal Clannad, but Clannad: After Story was easily the saddest (but not depressing, that goes to Texhnolyze) anime I have ever seen

I'm going to have to say...I don't know

Probably haruhi to a certian extent. You know what? I never finished the second season.

I made it barely half way through the endless eight, then raged deleted it.

Actually, that sort of made me loose all motivation to watch anime for several years till I started seeing shows I never watched pop up on Hulu.

Let me get out my list.

*Ahem*

Neon Genesis Evangelion- What I expected was a mind blowing complex psychological deconstruction of the mecha genre with similar levels of amazement as Madoka Magica. What I got was a shallow, angsty and mediocre mecha show that thinks it's a lot smarter than it actually is (See: Pretentious). It's not helped by the fact that the lead character (Shinji) is a steaming puddle of angst with no redeeming qualities

Angel Beats- You guys do realise that this is more or less the same thing as everything else made by Key, right? The only difference is that it's horribly paced. Although the English dub has the same problems as Clannad.

Steins;Gate- Yeah, I thought it was great too. But does it deserve to be one of the highest rated anime of all time? Absolutely not. Doesn't even come close to deserving a title like that

FMA: Brotherhood- Now this show was fantastic. But it's still not worthy of being one of the highest rated of all time. It's pretty much just a typical action anime with more episodes and better writing. FMA 2003 had a lot of interesting themes and great messages hidden underneath it's shonen exterior. FMAB had none of that. It also had a crap villain and a crap ending

Clannad- After Story is a little overrated too, but the first part even more so. I laughed a lot more than I cried. The comedy was well written and hilarious while the drama was crappily written and laughably bad. The only reason it gets a 7 from me is because it handled the Slice of Life and comedy well (Although After Story was better at both of those things)

Baccano- Style over substance. It was good, but it's not the ZOMG UNDERRATED ARTY MASTRPEECE that people make it out to be. I mean, it's pretty highly rated and popular. Also Ladd needed more screen time

Elfen Lied- Why does anyone think this show is even remotely good?

Mirai Nikki- No seriously, same as Elfen Lied. It's because there's blood and tits isn't it? Because I certainly didn't see anything worthy of any sort of artistic merit.

Chuunibyou- Generic, generic, generic. Made me lose a little faith in KyoAni after moving from something as great as Hyouka to another highschool romcom centering around a bunch of sociopaths and a lead guy who acts as the voice of reason (Made popular by Haruhi and rekindled by Haganai (Both of which are much, much better shows)).

Aku no Hana- The fact that there is even a single person in this world who thinks this is good means that it's overrated

Also, SAO has the distinction of being the only show that's both overrated and underrated. It's not nearly as bad as the 'h8rs' make it out to be but... it's still pretty crap. I found it be pretty forgettable. If you want to want to watch a crap show, just watch Guilty Crown instead. Much more fun

I would actually like to know what you think deserves to be in a top anime list if you want to PM me.

As for this generations anime that's over rated I would say SAO I mean its good for what it is but I was kind of shocked to see how much praise it gets by the general anime fan.

Elfen lied as an anime was terrible. The manga was so much better to such an extent that I cant stand to watch the show.

Well, like everyone else is saying, SAO has to be one of the most overrated series. First half was amazing, imo, but started going downhill once the Alfheim arc started. Naruto Shippuden was pretty good initially, but I slowly lost interest in it. Same with Fairy Tail.

I find it funny. The actual story of the first arc of SAO is 8 episodes with around 4-5 being extra stuff which would of been better as ova's. While the entirety of the second arc is actual story. The dilemma faced is most everyone like filler than story. Given peoples thoughts on how butchered SAO is or is not. So, in terms of story and plot what did the second arc of SAO have or didn't have that made it worse than the first arc.

You don't really need to watch the whole endless eight arc (I mean I did, but you don't have to), just the first and last episodes is enough. The only changes between those middle episodes are details in animation and perspectives. Dialogue is basically the same throughout.
