I started out watching dubbed anime but as I started to watch subtitled anime, it became more comfortable for me to watch it in its native language. The speech "flows" better.

I watch everything in subs, because that's what's readily available and I've always preferred. But lately I've been watching more mecha shows and I wish I could just watch what was happening rather than looking at the bottom of the screen. Especially as the action moves so fast.

I mostly watch subs now, as to me it just fit better with the Japanese voices.

If the dub is of good quality I will always prefer it, however this is usually not the case so I watch subs mainly.
I find that the quality of dubs is so often dubious that I usually don't even try the dub unless it's a major release like a Hayao Miyazaki film.

I usually prefer subs. The voice acting on most dubs annoys me.

I'll post it in this thread.

The eng dub of Cromartie High School is great.
Watching it now.
This is one where the licensors didn't censore the dialogs/monologs.
Gonna watch it in japanese too, to compare.

I'm actually a fan of both, but if I had to choose, I kind of prefer dubs, IF they are done well. My biggest reason for this is that with subs, you end up spending so much time reading the subs that you end up missing a fair amount of the animation. And if you get caught up in the animation, you end up missing some of the dialog. But on the other hand,, for example, I recently purchaced the first season of Hell Girl/ Jigoku Shojo. I LOVED the subbed verstions of the second and third seasons (which I watched right here on the good ole CR), and watching the dubbed version of season one left a LOT to be desired. One example of this is Enma Ai's line where she is pronouncing the victim of the curse, the English version is "Perhaps it is time to die". I GREATLY perfer the Japanese version where she says "Care to give death a try?". Just a lot creepier that way.

So, to sum it up, I'm kind of torn. I like them both for different reasons.

How I prefer a show depends on what version I see first. Usually if it has a dub I will watch that because it allows me to focus on the show and enjoy it. But if they were to dub something that I have seen subbed say like Bakemonogatari i wouldn't be able to watch it dubbed since I enjoy the way the Japanese portray the characters.
