When there are good dubs, especially in the cases of Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Haruhi Suzumiya (Dunno if this one is generally accepted as a good dub, but I loved it, so there!) I go for dub instead of sub.
It's just nice to be able to look at what's happening and not worry about reading subtitles. Heck, I'd watch fandubs too, if there were any that were fully done well!(Too bad I have yet to find one...)

That said, subs are easier to find/more available in most cases, so that's what I've been going with recently...

But saying all dubs suck and original Japanese voices are the way to go 100% is just... I dunno, not the best way to go about it, imo. Open ears and an open mind are wonderful things to have!

Search for Hellsing Ultimate Abridged on Youtube.

I use to prefer dub..but then I realized I could read AND watch at the same time. So now I prefer sub. If an anime is dub only, I won't watch it.

You miss out on good shows that way.

You are right, but what can I do? I fell in love with the Japanese voice.

Learn to enjoy both? It's not that hard. At least, tolerate dubs to watch a show you may end up loving. Just because it's a dub doesn't mean you should avoid it like the plague.

I appreciate that. I use to watch Naruto dub..but now I can't stand it. The dub voice actors are great. And there is some really great dub anime , like OHSHC. But maybe its just a phase..yea us old folks go through them too. I recently bought some anime and it was all dub..but I had to switch to sub. I just couldn't take it. Seriously.

The dub for Fate/Zero is great, it does the show justice - if you wanted an example of a currently airing dub. I can agree with not standing a dub, though. It's just... I don't like when people avoid all dubs for (no offense) silly/unfair reasons. You know?

So long as the Dub isn't bad I prefer Dubs over subs.

Yes, I get you..I feel the same about avoiding subs.I know people who miss out on great anime just because it is sub. I have been watching anime for a long time, and mostly dub. In the past, I would not watch anime if it wasn't dubbed. But then I just fell in love with subs. But seeing as most anime is subbed, ( it's rare for an anime to be just dubbed) it's not really an issue. I'll have to check out Fate/Zero. I wasn't crazy about Fate/ Stay Night, not the dub, but the story.

I watch the show dubbed first, and if i dont like it i'll switch to subs. This happened with shows like Akira and Evangelion. When it comes to shows with a lot of moe in it, I expect the dub to fail since most dubs in my experience never capture those characters right. The best examples would be Clannad, Air, and Kanon, and IMO Asahina from Haruhi Suzumiya. Loved the entire cast except for her (and to a lesser extent Nagato).

Tbh in a perfect world I would prefer dub over sub anyday. That way I can focus on the animation rather than the words. Thing is we ain't in a perfect world and are cursed with horrible dubs. However if there's an awesome dub of an anime such as black lagoon (damn that dub was amazing) then be sure to find me watching it over a sub release.

Sub, only because this way i can't usually tell if the Japanese voice overs are bad. Nothing like bad voice acting to ruin an anime. Although when the English voice overs aren't bad or at least bearable i watch dub, because there are somethings that are lost in translation(usually fansubs but sometimes dring regular subs also) or a plot gets really wtf i cant keep up.

Same goes for foreign films, will always watch it subbed first with original voices. I also don't mind reading.

I'm almost getting to the point where I don't have a preference, but it's easier to show other people a dubbed anime.

Sometimes dubs have certain things that annoy like in Railgun's dub, where Kuroko calls Mikoto "Sissy" rather than Onee-sama.

Well you can't really help that as the point is to localize the script, not say it again. Some dubs have kept Senpai and Sensei, or the -san and -kun honorifics, but it doesn't usually flow well, sound right, etc. with the English language or the dub in question. For some, it's alright, but for most not really.
