Is a woman’s life pointless without children?
|
What kind of question is this? Please ignore the uneducated and ignorant fool or fools who told you that a woman's life without having children is pointless. Women have evolved from the stereotypical role of just staying at home and having babies. Yes children can be a joyous gift from god but it is not a necessity for life. Live you life as you see fit! Women have rights and they should use them as they please!

I feel like this is less of a question and more of a straw man argument, or in other words just an idea that is so ridiculous that its easily defeated. You usually use those when you're trying to push some other idea in behind it. So I'm looking for something I missed here...

Is a MAN's life pointless without children? What the hell. We're all human beings here.
I feel very offended at the moment. I'm sure it wasn't intended to be sexist. But I severely disagree with this. I intend to make a career goal happen, i.e., art projects/businesses. And I've been told that I should consider children when I'm older, and more situated with my life, and they will (This is not intended to be mean, but it will sound mean,) get in the way with whatever I want to do. So. No. I woman's life is not pointless without children. I do want a child or two in my life. But that doesn't mean I'll drop everything and become a house wife, damn it. |

Just stop listening to others for advice and look within yourself. All the answers are within you.

I can already control reality with my mind, banning me is pointless.

I cant say for sure, because I'm a dude. but I love kids and really can't see myself not having them. The thing is I loved children ever since I met my niece when I was age 11.

Goals all animals naturally have in life:
- Survive - Mature and reproduce - Die after passing the reproductive age. Although humans tend to stick around to teach the next generation and play golf. No there isn't anything more than that. |

Within the confines of this board your belief is entirely true - it's not exactly rocking the boat to say you don't want kids. In the real world I can assure you that it's a real thing It's only been in the last 10 years that professionals in their 30s and 40s without kids have become at all common. Even now it's unusual. |

If you're the retarded looking loser in your picture, you seem to lack the capabilities to have kids (let alone get laid). And since I assumed you can't have kids, that makes you worse off than those wal-mart bozos who do have kids. Thus you are a burden on mankind for being unable to carry on the species. |

In the real world I can assure you that it's a real thing It's only been in the last 10 years that professionals in their 30s and 40s without kids have become at all common. Even now it's unusual. That is true, and a good point. But whether it was common or not wasn't what was asked right? It was if a person, specifically a woman's life ceased to have value in the absence of having children. So does someone stop having value if they are biologically incapable of having children? That is what I was suggesting was ridiculous. You miss out on some things and get to experience others based on the choices you make in life. That would be true of any choice you make whether its to have children or not, or to go to college or not. But I still think its a leap to say that a man, or a woman, or any humans life loses value based on any single choice they make. |

I'll be turning 32 this year (us old folks can still be anime fans darn it!) and just last month made my choice to not have kids be a permanent one. I love children, I just know for certain I don't want any of my own. I have several reasons for this; bad genetics (I'm a very sick person myself), time and interest. That's not to say that if I suddenly gain the desire (however unlikely) that I'm above adoption. I'm a strong believer in adoption.
I've been telling people I'd never be the mother of a human being since I was 7 and my mind has never swayed. Does that make me any less of a woman? Not hardly. I don't have a relationship or children and I am VERY HAPPY with my life right now. Sure, I'd like a relationship in the future some time but I don't need one to validate my existence. Just as I don't need children to validate my life's worth. I do, however, call myself mommy to four very adorable fancy rats and that's absolutely perfect and satisfying enough for me. =) |
