I figured I'd share this video with all of you now that the SENS foundation has updated their website and made the video. If you don't know what SENS is, it stands for 'Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence', and their goal is to conquer as many diseases as possible, even age related diseases that finally manifest after years of accumulation since birth.

Why should you care and how does it relate to you? Well, besides the obvious lure of curing most diseases, it also means that age related diseases being conquered would allow you to live substantially longer. Think, there could be the first future 200 year old alive right now or in the near future. Perhaps even older.

Just spreading the awareness for a noteworthy cause. Go ahead and have a nice discussion about Aubrey's beard.

Perhaps in the philosophical sense. Living is a form of a disease I suppose. Let's just say that it could lead to the cure to every diseases that prevents most people from living past 100.

The world can actually support 40 billion people or even more since it's hollow. If we all use renewable free energy, the world can hold even more.

Think logically.
1. The world is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over populated.
2. put that together with people living 200 years or more.
3. Our resources are running out.
4. more people equals more resources, we'll all die out even faster.

Now what do you get when you putthose together?

Most first world nations have declining populations as the death rate is higher than the birth rate. If we achieved something like this, yes the population increase would beat out the death rate, but not by so much that we wouldn't be able to prepare for radical long term changes.

I don't like most people. I am fine with them having shorter lives.

Huh? What countries?

You do realize we are already destroying this planet right?
I know there is no decline in the US for sure.
How long do you think humans will be able to last on this planet? Until the sun dies out? lolololololol
We won't last 1000 years. Cut that in half if peopel are living till 200.

We will all die long before the sun dies out, because before the super nova occurs, the sun will begin to expand and that will boil the entire earth. I don't know how long humans will last, and I don't really care. I just think it's a nice idea to live a bit longer so I can visit more countries than if I were to live to an abysmally short age of 85.

Yep, we are destroying small areas on the surface of the planet. Overall, it doesn't even take 1hp of health away, in video game terms.

What do I get from what you mentioned? A downgraded version of everything that I already know, except I am not certain about the not lasting 1,000 years part. Although I'm not sure whether you are referring to our species or as an individual.

Most people don't even consider what you mentioned. Still, the topic at hand is about having longer lives. Not shorter. Feel free to make a thread about your disdain for others and you're openness to say that you are alright with them living short lives.

Making a different thread is not necessary. My post still relates to your topic. You are indeed talking about people having longer lives and I am simply stating my opinion that I do not wish for them to have longer lives. I am sorry to know you are unable to see how that relates.

You never mentioned not wanting them to have longer lives. You said that you are fine with it. Two different things. If your thoughts on this matter are related to not liking people, then how do you feel about it relating to yourself? You're just as externally absurd and pointless as the rest of us.

Your apathy on the matter is a little unsettling. I suppose it's the natural product of high society in the modern age.

I was talking about the human race?
We'll either keep poluting the earth and we won't be able to survive or the most likely choice is we will destroy ourselves(nuclear war) or famine is possible

In the short term I believe nuclear war is the biggest factor. To my understanding, we are making good progress towards infinite self sustainability in terms of energy, and perhaps later on, even food. I'd still wager that the nearest natural extinction level even that will destroy mankind will be a large meteor collision.

It was pretty much implied that by not liking people I wouldn't even want them to have full lives let alone longer ones. As for me, I do not like myself either and have wanted to die for almost 20 years now. I certainly would be against adding more years onto my life even if it meant that my disease, which is currently lacking a cure, would finally get one.
