So I have people say that Darker than Black 2 sucks compared to the 1st but I really enjoyed it so just wanted the opinions of others here. So what does everyone think?

It took everything good about the first season threw it into a wood chipper and we were left with a Drunk Pedophile, Alvin the Chipmunk, a plot revolving a terribly written character, and more unanswered questions!!! While the show is famous for never giving the audience the full story, I believe this season was the result of someone going into Tensai Okamura's toilet and scraping off the residue! and that is what I...Belif!

Checked through the forums, and there were no topics like this (Other than a closed one.).. So I think it's fine.
Darker than black 2 .. I couldn't force myself to watch past the 2nd episode when it first came out.
I didn't like that ''main character girl'' at all.. Not in the least.. The ''rugged'' Hei just seemed out of place, and it had done 1 thing that a sequel shouldn't do.. Go in a totally different direction than the first one.
Basically everything that I enjoyed in Darker than black was taken out of Darker than black 2, or changed. (The undercover settings, Hei's regular life, the situations that Hei got into, and the colorful side-characters with a nice ''there's more to them than ya think''.).
Personally I didn't enjoy the ''2nd season'' at all.

I liked series 2, but I am in the minority on that one.
True, series 1 was better but people act like series 2 was awful when it was actually pretty good.
If Darker than black ever returned then I think a prologue set during heavens war would be a good idea.
One more thing, before any of you judge series 2 please remember that it graced us with this one pure moment of bad assery.

Wasn't as good as the first but still worth watching. I agree with what a previous poster said about the lack of interesting side characters hurt the show. Guy Kurosawa is an awesome character and he and Season 1's side characters really made me love Season 1. Season 2 just didn't have any new characters as good as November 11 or that yakuza guy Hei befriended and instead gave us an annoying girl protagonist. Season 2 also makes a whole lot more sense after watching Gaiden. I liked gruff Hei though and the action scenes were still awesome.
So I'm definately a Season 2 fan and would gladly watch a Season 3 if it were as good as 2.

Honestly the second season was definatly not has good as the 1 series. thier where alot of unexplianed detials in the main polt. and thier were so many random plot twists in the last few episodes. that you were left saying wtf just happened here. i honestly wouldn't recommend you watch it. you would be better off just skipping this half of the series. it serves no purpose to the plot of the original series. although, the opening is really catchy and nice to listen to.

I loved the first season and was excited for the second... only to be essentially shit on. It really was a bizarre change.
not the first anime to have writers forget how to do their job.
That is a better thread, which shows go off the deep-end most in the second half/second season, etc..

I actually liked it myself as I found Hei's fall into drunkard and dis-shoveled state Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide after losing Yin realistic. But whatever to each their own I guess, though I still wish for a 3rd season that probably will never happen. |

Even if the second season isn't as good, if you're a fan on the first season, you'll probably still enjoy it enough to make it worth it. I would suggest watching the 4 episode OVA that bridges the 2 seasons first. It actually came out after the second season did, but you'll be far less confused if you watch it.
