'Cause they sing in Japanese?
I guess its pretty much the same reason American artists can't make it big there: Language differences. |

Most are trained since as young as 10-14. But they still have accents. Asian music and fashion is still very different from mainstream America. Another thing is that the biggest Asian artists are people that are trained and produced by the Korean industry. So, they don't have their own songs and don't really get the credit as artists. Merely performers. Logically, if you didn't make it and are just performing it; you're not an artist, you're a performer. Asia is trying to break into the US with pop idol looks, fashion, etc. That's basically the formula for a boy band or teen idol. It won't be easy to break into the US (especially as a guy) as a boy band type of performer even if you claim that you aren't. Not only are boy bands a 90s thing, Caucasian image is too popular in America to lose out to Asian looks. Asia also doesn't have the same diversity as the US, I think. The US seems to have so much influence on the world because it has a huge pool of different cultures, personalities, styles, and talent. You want to find a Korean? You want to see a Cuban? etc etc.. You can find them all in the US. O yea. Americans find Asian music too pop/girly.

Check this singer out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x961Goes_UQ There are some good singers out there in Asia. I think the music industry in Asia worries about image and dancing too much. They just want them to have good singing skills then train them on singing. Rather than finding the ones who have incredible voices. |

It's naive to think America isn't a racist country. Don't kid yourself.

I'm a Filipino, and I know a lot of bands and artists in the Philippines, and I think that they're really good. I also think that they're better than some of the American artists. But Jasmine Trias is a different situation, she just joined the American Idol and luckily, she was on 3rd place. But she's still not that popular with the Americans. I also listen to Korean and Japanese music too, and they're not bad either. Eventhough I can't understand it. I think that only a few Asian artists will only make it big in America. Hell, they think they're superior. So there's nothing we can do about it. It's good though, that the Asians appreciate each other's music. Hopefully, someday, Asians can make it big in America. That's the conclusion everyone wants to come to because it's an easy way to sum it up. It's really not that at all. Americans really tend to shy away from what's 'different.' Until some really big breakout star hits the U.S.A, or an A-lister points out the talent of an Asian individual, there won't be any Asians in the music industry. Americans are racist. most whites and blacks and mexicans are racist toward asians becuase we generally considered less superior. becuase we generally have more money and study harder. but asians are the greatest race on the earth. america is a bad place to live most people here are ignorant and wanna live a thug life. which is stupid |

Obviously, I'm starting with aznluck7144 as the quote above is slightly hypocritical. Now, aznluck7144 is calling Americans racist, yet aznluck7144 seems to be referring to the Hispanic "race" as "Mexicans". I'm basing this on the fact that aznluck7144 mentions "whites", "blacks", and "asians" in the same sentence, all of which are considered "races". However, there is more to the "Hispanic race" than just "Mexicans", I'm afraid. Furthermore, "Asians" are also considered "American" if they are born within the US or one of its territories. So, one could make the case that aznluck7144 is implying that Asian Americans are "racist" against the "Asian race" as well. Lastly, there are quite a few "Mexicans" and Filipinos that have a little Spanish in them, seeing as they both had contact with the Spaniards a while back. The relationship they had with the Spaniards was about the same as well, so a lot of "Mexicans" and Filipinos have something in common as far as their blood goes, especially with all the time that has passed since those times. It's interesting that most Filipinos seem to embrace their "Asian" side more whereas "Mexicans" seem to foresake their "Native American" side. At any rate, aznluck7144 is a moron and so are most of the individuals that posted after I did. |
