Gosh, I'm asian, but yet I feel somewhat offended about what some people have to say, because not only am I asian, I AM an AMERICAN, being an American doesn't mean you're caucasian, which I'm sure that is what most people are referring to. So when people say AMERICAN'S are racist, I feel as I'm being reffered to as one. But don't you think for calling Americans racist make you racist? I think it's not that asians aren't able to make it in the U.S, I just think that we're not quite there just yet, of course we have talent, but what's the rush, we're still progressing there. The U.S market is hard to crack into. You think black people made it so easily up there, I'm sure it took years, and look at where they are now, hip/hop&r&b pretty much top the charts these days. Hispanics are up there, Latinos are up there, and Euroupeans are climbing up there too, I just think that in time we will be up there, maybe not now, but I know in the future.

Hey I'm like you asian from america, although I don't have the same opinion as you the thing is the # of Asian's in America are too little. It's real hard for them to really make it big. The only one that I think made it big in America is Rain, in addition Americans, well some of the ones I know can't tell one person from another, they think that it's the same person.

So if Asian's ever hit it big in America it's going to take a long time. Before American's can accept the new change.

yeah...that's kinda what i mean...the numbers in asians in the U.S is not large enough, we're like the fourth or fifth ethnicity that make up about only 20...maybe even a little less in percentage in the U.S, but as time comes...yes..well be up there.

I know hope that day come's soon, in my opinion I think Asians voices are a lot more purer then Americans. Unlike some american songs that put down another gender, I really like Asian songs. Especially Taiwanese.

English as a language doesn't lend itself too well to some music types. Each language have a somewhat distinctive sounds, so each language has melodies that harmonizes with those sounds better. Forcing a melody to another language is pretty tough to pull off. Not impossible but tough. Eg Do As Infinity singing chinese lyrics for "Song of Truth" compared to the japanese version even though the er-hu is used.

b/c the majority of the asians still have a retarded english accent..esp.. those that have immigrated recently...
asians don't hav the english voice that we feel from true americans, from the families who have been living in america for at least a century..

listen to white/black etc.. americans talk.. i bet u can here the big tone and difference that they hav in compare to asians..
and despite different english accents in different parts of america that the americans talk.. they still have this tone of voice that is very different than asians

there's even some asians families that have been living in american for a century or so and they still talk in a way that i was even annoyed by it..

and it's not that americans are racist (well.. they can/are some or many) but until/unless asians get rid of their annoying accents/tone that they have when they speak english... there will never be a successful/popular singer in america...(but there are exception...that unless that asian singer's voice is really really good and just soo talented..)

and plus.. americans' taste in music is different than most or all asians

currently.. im think of jay chou :P.. but the sad part is.. he cant even talk/sing in english..but i actually presented one of his songs to my classmates.. and they say they like the music.. but they just don't/can't understand what he's singing...and so.. yea.. americans also like good lyrics..esp the ones they can relate to..

The language barrier is a possible factor; some people might not like foreign music. Despite how well they speak English, there will probably be some trace of an accent left which might not appeal to people. Also, I've noticed Asian music differs slightly to American/English music in style; I can't exactly name the difference (it's there though lol) so people might not appreciate Asian music the way we do >.<

I have Caucasian friends at school; all whom I have forced Asian music upon *insert evil laugh*
A couple of them really enjoyed it whilst the rest hated it =/ Really depends on the individuals taste I suppose. If Asian music were to debut in America, it's more than likely there will at least be /some/ opposition towards it.
Ah well, their loss I suppose? xP Hehe.

*high fives*
lol. Exactly!
I have yet to force my entire class to listen to it - then again, I don't just have /one/ class - but hey, maybe one day xD Haha, actually...that sounds a lot like me ^^; I tend to listen to foreign music in languages I can't understand so I go around the house singing lyrics that mean gibberish to me (probably with a thick accent too >.<)
