Did Anime Change Your Life?

it took some of my life away lol

haha this^ but I don't regret it. Did it change my life? Yeah, it's kinda like therapy when I watch it. If I have a tough day or just need an escape, anime is just the ticket. When I use 'escape' I don't mean run from my fears either. I mean escape in a good way if that makes sense?

I must add though after watching the ending of Glass Mask I'm a little scarred now. I haven't been that letdown since watching the ending of Skip Beat. They have the EXACT same letdown!!! i probably won't watch anime for a while. (Sorry, just had to vent to somebody.)

I know it sucks not having anyone to talk about a good anime or manga you're watching. Thats why I like this site as you can talk about series and let those feelings and opinions out I'm lucky that my brother likes some anime and manga though he never wants to talk about non fighting stuff usually so I discuss that on here

I'd be like $6000 richer. Maybe I'd have car. I probably wouldn't be in the habit of saying "naruhodo" in my head every time I have a mini-epiphany -- like discovering that my TV has a sleep function that turns it off automatically when it's not being used, so I don't have to go through the trouble of pressing the button on my remote (best revelation of the week). I'm not sure whether my replacement hobby would be up to par as far as enjoyment. I mean, presumably I watch anime because I enjoy it more than I would objectively enjoy doing something else. Maybe I'd be a gaming addict instead? Either way, I'd probably think about things and go about my life in the same way, so I don't see too much of a difference.

Edit: Now that I think about it, like any medium of art, anime has changed my perspective on a lot of things, and I now see certain things differently than I otherwise would have. But I also don't think my identity, interests, or outlook would be at all different had I never encountered it, and in that sense, I don't think it's really changed me at all.

Personally, Naruto was my gateway anime. It has opened me up to many more anime and different genres of it. Anime has surprisingly helped me make friends, provided me a way of relaxing, and given me a lot of motivation, as I am a severely apathetic person. I've introduced several other friends to it who love it now too. So yeah, I'd have to say it changed my life, especially with the who-knows-how-many hours of time I've dumped into it.

It changed my life. I met amazing friends through it and it helped me escape from a shitty reality. Anime turned into a whole other world I could go to at a point in my life when literal escape was impossible. Even after I left the military I continued to watch it and it still provides me with the same escape even though life has gotten much better. Its an escape from the "norm". I don't think I will ever stop as long as awesome anime continues to exist.

You're lucky! My younger sister likes anime too, but it's so hard to communicate with her since I'm out of state and she is always busy. One time I tried to bring up k-pop to my friends as a test.. I just got the "What drugs are you on?" look. So talking anything remotely close to anime/manga will not happen.

Clannad ~ After Story really changed my life, in a moral kind of way. It really taught me a lot, and after I thought about life in a whole new way.

I like reading this thread.

Well thinking back when I was a kid , I always love catoons and when anime came I was hooked but If I had the proper guidance back then , I would have been an illustrator ,painter and be in the entertainment industry .

If anime did not show up I would have been a jazz pianist lol with my current job

Nothing about anime changed my life besides the fact that I would not have spent hours and hours watching it.

Yes, there are moments when I've cried and learned a few things from it, but nothing has exactly impacted my life. All of the moral lessons and advice were either already taught to me by my parents/friends or I just knew what the right thing to do was by common sense.

I can say, though. If I didn't watch anime, I would be a lot less tired in the mornings because I have very busy schedules everyday. but I don't mind. I love anime.

Yeah, anime has changed my life. Without anime, I would probably just be a video game junkie, and I wouldn't be as social as I am now. I also meet a couple of great friends through anime. I had some of the best times of my life at anime cons, and I'll never forget it. I'll never give up anime. NEVER!!!!!!

Anime has honestly made me look at the world differently. I feel like my personality is more outgoing because I used to admire characters like Konata from lucky star. And even now I think that i probably would've have been an ass. Like seeing the hardships through anime has made me more aware of peoples emotions. In the end, the fact that I've been watching anime from a young age shaped me in a way that is much better than what I would.ve become.

Wouldn't say "changed" in a good or bad way but it certainly did improve it in my opinion at least.

If it wasn't for a friend introducing me to anime through Elfen Lied, which lead me to manga which also further re-sparked my love of reading and caused me to switching my career path from psychology to writing. Which I have found I love far more than psychology.
