You meen the series ending? Yes, the true concept of their logic in ending it with a series of interogations is rather complex. It was chosen to be that way by many head officials overseeing the series' construction. The movies were set up to fix the ending of the show, hopefully to make it simpler (Ha! What a joke!). The ending of the series was fine, it just wasn't flashy like everyone wanted. Thats why they made the two movies. Honestly, I believe they crossed the line when they killed Misato and Asuka. Those scenes were too terrible for me to take in. I don't watch them. That and Shinji's little scene with my Asuka while she's asleep, I cant watch any of those scenes anymore.

so asuka died in the movie... huh she was a bit annoying how did she die and what did shinji do please tell

Asuka doesnt die in the movie. There is a scene where Shinji strangles her to death, but thats all in his head. In the end, the two of them wake up laying next to eachother in the ruin of the world. Shinji gets on top of her, wraps his fingers around her neck, and starts to strangle her. She reaches up and carresses his face. He lets go of her and starts crying. She says "Pathetic" and the movie ends.

She died fighting the new Eva series, a little grotesque I believe she lost power and the new ones ate her Unit (you are given no reason to presume she wasn't inside). Shinji beats off over her hospital bed when her shirt comes undone. I can't say this for certain but I think she did actually die and was revived to be the new eve (for which shinji needed to pick her).

Well, heres a refresher for those who havent seen it in a while.

Episodes 25-26 take place solely in Shinji's head as he attempts to decifer his purpose in life. He goes through times of anguish as he thinks of himself as being worthless, and tells himself that nobody cares about him. In episode 26, a small "what if" section is placed in which Shinji imagines a world in which everything is okay. Rei isnt a clone, Asuka is his childhood friend, and Misato is his homeroom teacher. This little world in expanded in the manga "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days" for anybody who is curious.
After a long time of calling himself worthless, Shinji finally decides that their might be some point to his life after all, and the series ends with everyone in his life standing around him and clapping, saying "CONGRADULATIONS!"

After seeing this ending, even I was angry. However, the better ending comes from watching the movie "End of Evangelion" in which Seele releases the complete Eva series equipped with the S2 engines, to forcefully shut down NERV. Halfway through the movie, it seems that Asuka is killed by the Eva series, but at the end, we come to find that that is not the case. In the end, the world starts over, with Asuka and Shinji essentially being the new Adam and Eve of earth. If you want to kno WHY the world startd over, watch it yourself ><

It pains me to correct you, but sadly, my Asuka does die at the end of the battle. Somehow, unlike ever before, the pilot incurs the same damage that the EVA does. Some suggest that the properties of the lances have that ability. Neverthless, when EVA Unit 02is impaled in the cranium, so is Asuka.

That would explain why she is bleeding profusely as she sits and screams inside the entry plug. Gruesomely so, you can see blood pouring from below her left eye as she move back and forth. In the very end, when the lances rain down upon Unit 02, her right arm is scene being svered down the center, just as her EVA's was. This meens, when Unit 02 takes the final blows from the lances, so does Asuka. This leads to the obvious conclusion that she died, cold and defeated inside her entryplug. If thats not enough, then she definately died when they feasted on Unit 02. No getting around that.

Her re-appearing at the end was because she, like shinji, rejected instrumentality. Why? We'll never know.

As far as the adam and eve, honestly, do you think she'd give him a chance, even if he is the last boy on earth?

Wasn't it obvious that she had some feelings for him the whole time? They were in conflict with her desire to appear superior and older than she was, not to mention the fact that she was more than a little off balance.

See reply to mattchristy's post for the answer to that. As far as annoying goes, I guess thats one way to put it. Not mine, but its a way to put it. Either way, she helped make Evangelion as good as it was, right to the very end.

Feelings of hate and disgust mostly. But, yeah you're kinda right. They weren't strong enough for them be made blatantly obvious to the audiance, but there were a few residual scenes of affection. Slight at best, but they exist. Mostly her rejecting him is her way of saying come closer. Too bad he doesn't get it. When it comes to her being offbalence, you tell me that you had your mom kill herself, your father abandon you, and trying living as a kid in a grown up's world at 4. Tell me, wouldn't you be a bit off balence too?

Even if she werent to give him a chance, that is what it most resembles. And, when her Eva is impaled, she is not impaled. This is proved by episode...sixteen or seventeen maybe? in which Unit 00 has its arm severes while Rei is still connected to the nerves. She feels the pain of the Eva, but her arm is not severed. She does indeed die, but it doesnt really matter when she doesnt STAY dead. She gets impaled by 9 mimics of the Lance of Longinus, and unit 02 is torn to pieces, even after going berserk (which also shows that she doesnt get any of the effects of the Evas destruction other than pain, considering how the Evas body is ripped to pieces, and Asuka is just fine, other than the mind boggling pain she is obviously going though.
And, there is no blood coming down from her left eye, as the side of her head she is holding is not the side that was impaled, and she is merely holding her head from the pain.

Yes, Shinji and Asuka both rejected Instrumentality, and why, we shall indeed never know. The thing that does matter, is that everyone else in the world is gone, not necessarily dead in the sence of the word, but gone, and those two are the only ones left. Can they be considered Adam and Eve, who knows. Would Asuka use Shinji to help repopulate the world? Maybe maybe not, thats still what happens.

Yes she does die and yes she is physically wounded. I already said the reason why she incurred her wounds. Its the lance's and their properties. Something about them does allow them to effect the pilot directly. And yes, watch very closely, she is bleeding. You can see a stream of blood pouring from her eye as they show her screaming in the plug.

Another interesting point I want to make is the neuro connections stay on even after unit 02's battery is dead. Thats not the way it works. When the battery is dead, all connections, including the nervous connections are cut. See Ambivilance for proof. That time, unit 02's head is severed after her nerve connections are cut. As you can see, she isn't grasping for air, but rather grabbing her arms from the earlier attack.

God....That scene is the first scene where Shinji TRUELY pissed me off.....If only he got in Unit 01 faster. I actually yelled at my screen "GET YOUR ASS OUT THERE YOU RETARD!!" XD

You too? Good. I agree. The whole reason he was even going to get in unit 01 was to help her anyways. Why did he give up so quickly? That bastard. Because oof his lazy ass, my beloved Asuka had to die! That son of a B####!

Meh, but SRW MX did alot of justice for the extremely angry Asuka fanboys. In MX, instead of getting pwned by the Mass Produced Eva series, she gets saved by Rom Stol (Dramatically. XD)

i never read that doujin (assuming that's what you're talking about), what does it involve?

also, i have been interested in learning more about the tree of life, a religious motif that appears frequently in the anime. if you want to know where each character sits on the tree of life, and it's significance... this link will surely clear that up. http://www.evamonkey.com/writings_chung01.htm
