Going through the comments of the shows I watch, I sometimes come across a comment that says something along the lines of "I really enjoy this and I'm a boy" or "That brought me to tears and I'm a boy" and for some reason its only boys that write these, or at least that's what the comment says. When I see comments like these I can't help but think "Who cares" though maybe some do and that's fine. Though for me I watch Anime to watch Anime and I think that's weird enough already (only because Anime isn't widely known or enjoyed, at least were I live) therefor I don't care for the genre of the Anime or the supposed Target Audience of the Anime. Some of my Favorite shows might be seen as something that a "Boy" wouldn't normally enjoy but people already think its weird that I watch Anime in the first place so who knows what would happen if they found out what I watched. Therefor I watch Anime to watch Anime. On a side not the only genres I don't think I couldn't handle watching are maybe Yaoi (I have nothing against gays/BL but Yaoi is a little to much for me though I enjoy Yuri) and stuff that is meant for Kids like a learning channel/show or something along those lines. My favorite genres would have to be Slice of Life, Action, Comedy, Seinen and Yuri and maybe Moe but as long as it keeps me watching I'll finish the show no matter the genre. Just with that small list I can think of shows where friends and family would be like "What the F*** you watching" but I don't care I watch Anime to watch Anime how about you?

no but sometimes when I'm watching anime and it has bits that are really kiddy it makes me question why I'm watching it, a good example is the fart brothers in fairytail, that made me completely lose interest.

I know what you mean, I really couldn't stand those guys. They made the episodes they were in unbearable.

Yeah I see alot of that too. Stuff like, "I cried manly tears" or "As a guy I can't believe I enjoy this show". Never really bothered me though . In my eyes it's just a silly way of stating that they really enjoyed something, or honestly found it really touching, you know? I think a majority of anime fans are like you and realize you can find quality shows in almost any genre and will watch what they enjoy without worrying whether they're target audience or not...could be wrong though.

Target Audiences...

Well all I'll say is screw the target audience. If I like it, I like it. If not, no shits are given. Whether animator and mangaka intend on a certain group or not, I enjoy a wide range of shows and reads.

Deal with it, entertainment industry

So true. Everyone should just watch what they want to without worrying about demographics. I think most anime fans are ahead of the curve on this one.

What I find hilarious is when fans say "I'm a guy and I like this show" for series that are actually aiming for that demographic. My favorite example is Lucky Star, which I believe is actually a shonen or a serien if i recall correctly.
