Told one coworker that i watch Girls und Panzers and they laughed at me. But then once i said it was about tank battles... They pretty much shut up. Though not a good example of a target audience. I like what i like. Idol anime i watch because i like the music. Everyone watches something that they think they have to keep quiet about or people will laugh at them. The world still puts too much into gender roll things. Its like in real life at work when someone asks me about what oil or anti freeze to put into their car. I point to my female coworker and tell them to ask her. Know i might have gone a lil off subject but o well.

I don't worry about it. Why should I limit myself to that ''because the adult audience says so'' or because people say ''that's boring''
I watch and listen to what I want not matter what other people might say.
As long as I follow the official rules of this and that.

I admit I wonder often, but I'm kind of at the point in my life where fretting over what I do in the (relative) privacy of my home is just silly.

Still, it can be really fun to try to figure out... although I suspect the answer is often 'everyone'

I watch most genres anyway.
If I only watched my demographic then I would miss a lot of stuff.

People worry too much. The thing I find funny though is when guys ironically say "I liked it even though I'm a guy" with regards to a seinen piece without realizing they are the target audience in the first place.

Yeah, that was pretty goofy. A club of wizards having adventures is such a fun concept, but the target audience definitely affects how interested I am in watching a show. I'm going to find the quotes of Hamlet and Tempest in Blast of Tempest a lot more entertaining than fart jokes.

Anyway, most romance plots are actually meant to appeal to young men, even if they seem a little mushy. I'd actually be interested in seeing a romance plot that targeted a female audience, because I don't think I've ever seen one. I assume that new show Amnesia is one.

Why not just watch shoujo anime? They're mostly romance and are targeted at women. Say "I Love You", Amnesia, Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, Kamisama Kiss, Kimi ni Todoke, and Lovely Complex are some examples.

Somethimes I wish the "target audience" would have a bit more delicate taste .. as I do ..
Except from BL I'am nearly watching every gerne... so what? Freting won't help, except you have the needed dinero to do your own animation :)

I feel self conscious watching 'The World God Only Knows' as I feel it was aimed at girls.

Are you referring to the "jiggle butt gang"? I don't watch the Fairy Tail anime anymore but I still read the manga and if you're referring to them I'm glad I don't watch anymore! I hated them in Rave Master, so I can't see that I'd like them any better in Fairy Tale! I'm just glad their not in the manga!

Now, as far as worrying over target audiences... if I did that I wouldn't watch 95% of the animes I like! I completely prefer shounen animes over shoujo animes and I don't care who knows it. I don't think you should be embarrassed over what you like or try to hide it. Though I do think girls have it better when it comes to stuff like this, since a lot of guys seem to think its cool when a girls likes the same fighting anime that he likes. However, a girl might thinks it's cool if a guy likes the same lovey dovey anime she likes, but his male friends are far more likely to give him a hard time. I have seen this happen first hand several times. It's so sad... people like what they like. I don't see why it should effect me, unless they try to make me watch something like; Kaichou wa Maid-sama! Then I would be effected greatly, so I would have to kill them for trying to torture me with such drivel!

It's a shounen piece aimed at guys. Like I said before, I smile at the irony of guys watching shows meant for guys, thinking that they are meant for girls, getting confused and then saying that they like a show even though its meant for girls, even though it was never meant for girls in the first place.

When I see stuff with "man-" tacked on to it, or "as a guy.." the first thing I think of is that they have to justify it to themselves in order not to feel strange, or start to wonder if they might be gay. lol

As for myself, I don't make comments like that, if I make comments about emotions, I'll just straight up say "I cried through the whole show". I don't need self-justification, and I'm not sexually insecure.

I have watched the most childish shows ( Mahou Shoujo, Pokemon) to the most gut-wrenching, terrifying stuff (Elfen Lied, Higurashi). I think it's safe to say I am pretty comfortable in watching just about anything.
