Boobs are awesome and all, but they're not sexual organs. They're for decoration and for feeding babies. Besides, this bill isn't about getting women to wear shirts when they're out and about, it's about regulating topless bars so that the pole dancers have to wear tape over their nipples. Now isn't that just a crying shame? I agree with you, but lets be honest for a second. Do people treat breasts like they're not sexual, err, don't want to say objects but it's the best word I can find. Say woman were allowed to walk around topless as men are. Can we honestly say that we'd get no negative ramifications? |

Are you okay with your current position?

New York City passed that legislation, though IIRC, it's limited to Central Park. (please correct me if I'm wrong on that.)

They want to pass a bill that could send a woman to prison for up to 6 months for showing a nipple. There are more important matters to focus on, and they want to harass women in North Carolina who want the equal right to walk around in public without a shirt on.

I doubt it will pass for the sole reason of breast feeding. I personally hate when people breast feed in front of me in public. But I'm also not going to ever vote to make it illegal. Laws are design to protect people and their rights not to make you happy.

It already states there's an explicit exception for breast feeding.

Yes, it should be criminalized. Not for my sake, but for the sake of children.

Nay
They should just allow people to walk around naked, if they wanted too. |

I take anything reported by bizarro-fox with a grain of salt. Any real news source have anything to say on this? All google turns up is the outrage police parroting the original huffington piece.

Say woman were allowed to walk around topless as men are. Can we honestly say that we'd get no negative ramifications? In some places women aren't allowed to show their hair in public because it is considered sexy and immodest, but that doesn't make their scalps sex organs. The fact is that in many places in the US women ARE legally allowed to walk around as topless as men do, and yet we rarely see hordes of women getting their tits out to cause traffic jams and other civil disruptions. We don't wrap up our girls because we are made to, but because it's easier for us, so what's the point of making it illegal? This stupid law is all about "cleaning up" the strip joints. I say leave the pole dancers alone! Not only does pasty tape look bad, but it tears the top layer of skin off your nipples and leaves them chapped and rough. After putting in a full 40 hour week, their nipples can even scab and peel. That's just a mean thing to do to a girl. |

I'll get too uncomfortable next to a topless women....men too. But boob are highly sexualized, so it'll be even more awkward. Is that society's fault? yes. Do I believe the world has to serve my needs? no. Does that change that fact that it'll still make me uncomfortable? no.
Hate me for being society's conformist, but nay. |
