Games that can be both brutally difficult, and addictively fun

Honestly, there arent all that many 'hard' games anymore. You cant even compare modern shooters to what we had before (instagib CTF on facing worlds anyone?). The most difficult to play games are still going to be your traditional strategies, WC3, SC2 etc and the MOBAs now. With a few real shooters around, T2, Q3A etc...

Last game I got stuck on would be.... probably amnesia, more due to my own pathetic nature than the game being hard though.

It was one of the few fights in my video game history that I've ever rage quit (on the hardest difficultly) after a month of trying lol I finally managed to clear it after coming back a few months later some years ago.
