That meteorite's lucky Clint Eastwood never visits Russia. He'd be the first to nail it back into the atmosphere with a baseball bat.

A wooden baseball bat.

This was a reminder of just how insignificant the human race really is in the big scheme of things. I wonder if the planet earth is even aware of our presence upon her.

Any form of sentient life is what creates reality. Without sentient beings, the Universe will cease to exist.

My point was actually less metaphysical and more mundane. A new planet is currently being formed around star HD 100546, while the only known sentient being in the universe is contentedly debating whether women with big butts make better trophies than those with skinny legs. Human intelligence is on the decline and based on what currently passes for commentary, the evidence is incontrovertible. To think that we are anything other than insignificant is arrogant.

Don’t read too deeply into it. In English class, we were taught that the general default pronoun for anything genderless which affection or respect is attached is female. Ships, cars, countries, even oceans. Ever heard the terms Mother Earth or Mother Nature?

Yeah, I've heard it from my previous teachers. I barley hear anyone using those terms around me anymore.

Yea, some teachers here teach that and some don't. It's confusing, but since my dad was in the navy and he always calls things her, it has been imbedded into my brain.

Hope this will be awake up call to everyone. As much as we'd like to think it, we're not invincible as a species.
