I once was the same. And I was a noob. I need to think about morale when watching those series not things that happens ''in other places''.

Exactly, anime tends to either shy away from sex or use it to comedic effect. Lots of shows however find a perfect balance between ecchi and plot, it should not be shocking to people either since almost all live action shows do it.

Agreed, a certain anime comes to mind called We, without wings.... I watched it at first because I wanted to see what all the ecchi hype was.. and laughed and enjoyed all the funny adult situations but there is actually a pretty awesome story going there so far (haven't finished it just yet)

All ecchi has a plot, even if it's a weak storyline just tossed together for the sake of the fanservice it's still a plot. Hell, Yoshitoshi Abe even admitted that she (I believe it's a she?!) writes her stories about mainly girls simply for the fact that she likes drawing cute girls... of course that not really the same thing, but you should get the idea.

Action porn (like say bleach) is really no different from ecchi stuff in that it's really trite trite stuff packaged in visuals and designs that you can really get into (depending on your interests :D)
