Well, on topic I suppose: Personally, I have something of a huge distaste for fanservice. Even mild fanservice gets under my skin, as I always feel like the writers assume their audience to be too stupid to keep watching without something to appeal to them, or that it just gets in the way of writing. It just comes off as lazy and unnecessary. For me, it moreso applies to series which want me to take it seriously or are outside any fanservice-y genres; animes that know they're fanservice fest from the start and completely embrace that have never really bothered me.

I could be wrong, but i think what you described the fan service for those who like the BL/yaoi stuff? Some people might like that stuff, but its just not for me. Though that is what a lot of females probably think when they see fan service in different genres of anime.
