Do you think we need a next gen console after the 360 right now?

I know that xbox 360 is 10 years old now, but I don't see how or what a new console would offer differently from the 360 at this point in time. A next gen to 360 would have to radically change the way we play games, which I don't see happening.

I could see Destiny being a launch title for the new console, much like Halo for original xbox or gears for 360. Yet it's listed for 360. Unless it's a clever ploy to hide the next gen or the next console won't be out at the end of the year.

Your thoughts?

Actually devs are complaining about the current Gen consoles. What the next Xbox could add is more ram and storage plus more gfx horsepower. Its sad when tegra 2 android devices have current consoles beat on most spec.

More ram will make for larger environments with more details and better AI when combined with GFX and CPU horsepower. Upgrading to bluray will remove the need to break up games into chunks in the near term until they hit the 50gb barrier.

Xbox is just a different kind of computer, and unlike a computer, you can't buy a better one, the hardware is the same, so instead of making better games, the devs are trying to make the best games they can that will work on 10 year old hardware. Might as well be coding games to run on Windows '95 at this point.

For the first year they will be making new games for the 360 and 720, as a way to slowly move people to buying the new gen console. If they were to completely cut off production of xbox 360 games, it would be like forcing people to buy a new console right when it comes out. Which they won't do.
