I know I've benefited from recommendations of friends when it comes to anime. Even on CR (like the spotlight section) I've found things that I didn't even know existed. What series have you found lately that was totally new to you that's been out for a few years? I am an unabashed marathoner so in a lot of ways I adore finding these series after they are done because I don't have to go through the pain of waiting week after week for resolution.. LOL Either way my current list of "new for me" anime:

Kimi ni Todoke - I'm watching now and I'm really enjoying it. I remember it being "the anime about a girl mistaken for the chick from the Ring movie" and that was about it. I'm happy it wasn't "just" that and so far halfway through the first season I'm getting the His and Hers Circumstances vibe from it. (that's good for me )

Time of Eve - Surprised I never knew a thing about it until the CR spotlight on it: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-791513/catalog-spotlight-time-of-eve I'm reaaaally happy I saw it. I love that type of world (like Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, etc.) so that small window in the cafe was just a treat for me. Sucks it was short but even at that length I'm really a fan.

Both series being done a while ago.. have you guys run into anything recently (like this year) that ended a long time ago but you just discovered and liked?

Yeah, I really liked that one too, but there was one thing that kinda bothered me about it, but I don't want to say yet since it might ruin it for you, or any other people that haven't watched it yet.

Now as for recent stuff that I've seen this year that have been out for a few years, and really stood out to me, I'd name just 2... Mushi-uta and Xam'd. I actually didn't have too high of expectations for both of these, but they both took me by surprise, especially Xam'd, which is prolly my favorite, or one of my favorite 26 ep series. Many people seem to compare Xam'd with Eureka 7, which kinda makes me want to watch that one too perhaps 1 day.

You should definitely get on Eureka 7, I saw both Eureka and Xam'd and Eureka is leagues better. Although Xam'd is damn fine as well.

The only question I have about Eureka 7 is the main character boy, does he act like a whiny little brat?

Well yeah at the beginning and a bit during the middle but his growth is exponential.

The fall of 2012 I watched Hayate no Gotoku: Can't Take My Eyes Off You.
Upon watching the first episode, I realized it was a sequel (almost) to Hayate no Gotoku, which had ended a while ago.
First season by SynergySP. Second season by J.C.Staff. Movie by Manglobe. Either way (unless you count the movie), it ended long before I started watching it.

Eureka Seven is 50+ episodes but it is worth it. One of the first animes I started watching years ago. I definitely enjoyed Xam'd. Has an awesome ending song by Kylee named "Vacancy." Check it out via youtube. Bones Studios was involved in both of those. Bones studio seems to have a lot of good ones.
