Searched, found, but locked. I hope this will bring back discussion about the music genre. The one genre I listen to the most.

So, perhaps I should mention my favorit bands. Cannibal Corpse. Since the year I turned 16, I've more or less listened to Cannibal Corpse daily. Then in the last couple of years I've been searching for death metal bands far and wide. Turning out to be quite a few interesting bands out there: Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septic Flesh, Fleshcrawl, Cannibal Corpse and so many other bands. And for some humour, Gorerotted.

The genre is also partially the reason why I also love a certain games: Dead Space for the horror elements and God of War for the brutality. One song from Cannibal Corpse also inspired me into writing and creating an RPG game.

So, in the long run, you could say I am using Cannibal Corpse as a measurment tool, so to speak, when looking for new bands. However, doesn't mean I discard the other bands I find from time to time.

How'bout other Crunchyroll members? There got to be other death metal fans here, right?

Anyway, soon I will buy Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal. That's how of a Cannibal Corpse fan I am. I only got one of their album as CD: Torture. So this collection will be great addition to my tiny collection of actuall CDs. :)

Feel free to discuss the genre, wether you like it or not. But keep it civil. Remember, there's more than one genre of death metal. there's alot of sub-genres of it. :)

Well, my personal preference is european Death Metal. The ones from the US don't fit my taste very well.
Except Suffocation, Immolation, Obituary and Cannibal Corpse.

My favourite bands are Grave, Asphyx and Obituary I guess.

I think i much rather Melodic Death Metal, but i mean that's me. I Still find Cannibal Corpse and such good, but i just fall more into the melodies of metal. Still, Cannibal Corpse is pretty brutal. Would Amon Amarth fall okay in here? haha

I've heard other death metal bands...but i forget there names for the most part. As i tend to only like 1-2 songs

Well, there's Soulfly, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Goatwhore, Graveworm, Behemoth, The Berzerker, Dying Fetus, Meshuggah, Nile, Zao, Whitechapel, Vader, Sepultura. I don't know of many others, as I primarily listen to Black Metal.

Whitechapel are pretty good. I don't know about Soulfly unless you're referring to Enslaved which is now my new fav album! I love Meshuggah but I find them way too different and unique to be considered death metal, much less lumped in or with other metal sub-genres. But that's just me.

No not really. It's more Thrash/Nu Metal than Death Metal.

Norwegian ones! Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon! KING and Fuel For Hatred! Also In Death's Embrace with Dimmu Borgir is my No. 1 BlackMetal. Too bad the CD quality isn't that good as it should be.

Mm... I have not yet taken the time to explore Death Metal. I mean, Saturnus is supposedly Melodic Death metal but I don't know about that. I'll be looking some of the bands on here for sure. 'Specially Amon Armath. I have heard great things about them. Including comparisons between them and Eluveitie, which is music to my ears.

See what I did there?

I did not, but Eluveitie certainly is a great band. Metal combined with folk music can turn into something really awesome. I dare to say even better than death metal.

If you are looking for symph/melo death, Septicflesh(previously,Septic Flesh) is something I can recommend to you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1pfPNKVrD4 (Septicflesh - Mad Archietect)

Opening doors, moving in circle
Finding doors...
"All the choices I once made, the paths that I designed,
Have formed this endless labyrinth, a product of my mind."

Or if you would love to listen to some technical death metal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENxqWjugShw (Fleshgod Apocalypse -The Deceit) Even the lyric is somewhat interesting.

They step in the dark
Mystification is delight
You taste the fear of men who fight
Against who rape their minds
Enwrap them all now in your scary spires
Despise the fools until they die
Their blood stains their demise

Does Cradle Of Flith count anymore?

I saw Graveworm live with a back stage pass in Shanghai recently. Have all their CD's.
