Why are there 3 minute or less anime?
|
This may seem like a stupid question, but I really don't understand the concept behind a three or four minute anime. I love the show mangirl right now and thats a short one too. What is the logic and what is everyones favorite anime that should be full length?
Hope to hear back |

Aren't they usually adapted from 4-koma's?

^ basically what superxanime posted
most of these short anime are adapted from short formed manga you want 22-24 minute per ep anime? that would cover 5-10 chapters an ep and we'd be done with the show by ep 6 lol (<- exaggeration, I know lol) |
|
believes that D-Frag and Nisekoi deserve an anime

I thought that too about the 4-komas too but I feel that they could easily adapt a longer story line. Polar bear cafe used to be a anime strip in a magazine but it turned into a full length show. Whats everyone's favorite short show???

A big percentage of the anime that is made, is made becaus they want to promote the visual novel, the manga or whatever the anime is adapted from.
These 5 mins animes is mostly just to promote something. Robotics;Notes is made becaus they want to promote the VN more, not becaus the VN did great. And not all of these 5 mins animes is bad. Recorder and Randsell is actually great. |

Quote me if you want me to notice it :P

I try to stay away from them.... 24 mins is short enough for full length anime so i cant imagine trying to watch 4 min episodes.........

Forever a nub

They cost alot less money to make so alot less risk involved I think that what it comes down to. As for the 2nd question I would really like to see full length episodes of Moritasan wa Mukuchi. Also would have liked it if mangirl and encouragement to climb had been full length I think those could have worked well at full length assuming they have enough material for it.

Whats the point of half an hour shows when we could have full length features? There's nothing wrong with shorts. Its not like its anything terribly new either, just because CR happened to pick up more than usual.

Cost is the main reason why. Making 12 - 3:30 minute shows is about the same amount of money as one 24 minute show.
My favorites this season in short format are Yama no Susume, Boku no Imouto wa Osaka Okan and Mangirl. Last season Teekyuu was my favorite. Yama no Susume manga is not four panel but it is very short, only sixteen pages per chapter and only one book was done when they made the anime. The BD will include a bonus episode which is chapter one of book two. Because of the short anime I bought both books of manga and have preordered book 3, the Bluray and ED CD so their investment worked in my case. Boku no Imouto wa Osaka Okan is based upon a book Osaka Okan Rules. The book is one in a series making fun of people who live in different cities in Japan. I bought the Osaka Okan book and meant to buy the Nagoya one too since I love Nagoya and how Tokyo people make fun of them. I am getting the Bluray, success again. Mangirl I like but I don't think I need to buy the books or Bluray. Fail. Teekyuu is based on four panel. I bought the manga and the Bluray. Win!!! |

Stay away from the forums, who am I kidding???

The question has basically already been answered, so I'll just give my opinion on short-forms: I enjoy most of them, some of them I'd like to be longer, some of them I wouldn't be able to watch if they were longer, and Hetalia is the only one that I thoroughly love, but am glad it's the length that it is. It's the best short-form show I've ever seen. Hetalia!
