Why are there 3 minute or less anime?

Fill time slots, cheap to make, other reasons already stated by others. They're basically just cute short little things that exist, short cartoons filling up time slots has been a thing for a while now, I don't get why people dislike them. I think they're cute, and considering most of them are very slap-stick, fast-paced humor they benefit heavily from being short. I don't think half of them would work as well as they do as a 24-minute per episode series.

People are idiots because they fill up comerical space. Theyre short we get it but there good. In japan there would be commericals filling up time and a typical 24 min anime. Its because crunchyroll isnt a tv with commericals and cable it seem so much shorter.
