So at this point everyone I'm sure can agree that HxH is Shounen GOAT.

Yep, Yu Yu Hakusho is a close second for me.

In this matter I have great difficulty choosing between Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Hunter x Hunter.

From contextual clues, Alluka is biologically male, but identifies as female.

Or Alluka could be both biologically female, and the Zoldyck family just refuses to acknowledge her as female.

Does it really matter? I don't think it does. After all, are we going to wonder about Nanika/Something's gender next? The point isn't that Nanika/Something is male or female. The point is that Nanika/Something is Killua's little sibling, and that he's sworn to protect both Alluka and Nanika/Something for the rest of his life.

Episode 147

Finally got around to watching this.

The show could have ended here if it really wanted to, but I'm glad we got one more episode! And the credits were definitely nice. So much has happened since the Hunter Exam, Gon and Killua have come a long ways. It feels like forever since then, but I only started HxH about 2 months ago, I can't image what it's like for the people who've been watching this show since 2011!!!

2011? There was actually a 1999 version of the anime, HxH is a very old series. I was introduced sometime in the early 2000s (I think 2003) when the manga was already almost five years old. Since then I've waited through multiple hiatuses including the 2 year one where I was somewhat convinced the manga had ended and Togashi didn't tell anyone.

The 2011 anime has been a joy ride... mostly, although I do still gripe about the mishandling of Kite. He shouldn't have been omitted from the first episode. Anyway, I love the visibility that the 2011 series has brought, and Madhouse has shown they care about the series as much as I do. The 2011 anime was made by fans of Togashi, and they did an insane job bringing his work to life.

Whatever my complaints, this series is incredibly special, and it is going to be dearly missed. I can't think of very many works of fiction that I can place near this.

However long it takes Togashi to write his series, I'm happy to wait. Few other people can write like him, so I'm content to give him as much time as he needs.

All I know is Funimation or Viz or whoever need to stop fucking around and license this on DVD/Blu-ray so I can give them all my money. Buying the manga just isn't enough...

What would be ideal is if Funimation got the license for the 2011 version and start a dub version up so it can get aired on TV so I (we) can re-watch HxH all over again, perhaps by the time the dubbed version of HxH is over, there'll be enough content out for Madhouse to produce the next installment to the series, though from what I've heard, Madhouse doesn't do things that way

I think they would come back to it if they had the chance. They seem really proud of their work on HxH. I'd never forgive Funi if they ruined the dub, but I doubt they would. Anyone who knows about anime should know this show is the holy grail of shounen anime.
