At the moment I'm too skeptical to get a PS4 on release, I think for me to get one it would have to have some form of backward capability and for Ground Zeros and Final Fantasy Vs 13 to be released on release or soon after. Otherwise I'll probably just wait a few months to see how well it does or doesn't do.

Well, games.
I'm completely uninterested in the tech. The graphics will barely improve, the social functions that have been announced are completely uninteresting, I'm really not a fan of the lack of PSX emulator built-in, and it's generally an unexciting system.
What would make me buy a PS4 on launch? The announcement of Persona 5 as a launch title. Otherwise, I can wait.

The only reason i would think of getting a PS4 would be to get the Kingdom Hearts remake and the next game in the series when it came out.

The games, and games only! I'm in a serious minority that doesn't pitch a tent over all of this social media bullshit. Having it as an option is fine but I don't really care for it being shoved in my face.

With the Playstation launch console track record, it may be worth waiting for a little while considering other launch console issues:
PS1: overheating causing disc audio stutter
PS2: disc read error
PS3: yellow light of death

I have never understood why apps like Facebook are included in a game console. I'd imagine it being hard to read on a TV screen anyway, and you probably want some privacy when using it. Does anyone use it? Are consoles still 'family computers' anywhere in the world?

To buy on day one, it would have to have a really good catalog of games. I don't care about all that social media crap, being able to message friends is just fine by me. Also with the way Sony was talking they are putting a huge emphasis on digital gaming, so if games aren't available on disc then I won't be buying this Playstation and will go full time PC.

I'll wait till the slim or newer models come out. For now my PS3 will suffice. I rather wait for the bugs to iron out, judging from Sony's history.

If Ryu ga Gotoku 6 is made for it at some point, I might get one. I don't know how good the "gaikai" service is, but I think real backwards compatibility should be there. The lack of it is what's holding me back. I'd trade game streaming and social network bull for BC any day.
