Hey, I had a similar idea to this theory in a lot of cases but also slightly different so thought I'd share :).

I like the theory as to what might happen in the future, but the main thing I can’t work out is what/why it happened in the past. Why did the 20 kingdoms unite to destroy the AK, if the AK just wanted to unite the seas why would the alliance retaliate so much to wipe them off the face of the planet and keep it in hiding to this day? If it was because they were trying to destroy the red/grand line, what would it matter today that the WG are trying to keep secret. The only things against it I can think of right now is it was just an excuse to take control of the world, but if they can wipe out a century of history I think they could easily hide this.

My separate personal theory is that the red and grand line weren’t actually there during the AK times and that the WG attacked because they wanted something the AK may have been protecting on island we know as Raftel (something that could give the WG absolute power maybe?). After it was apparent the AK was going to lose the war, they used to ancient weapons which created the grand line and their will was passed down to carry on protecting.
I won’t go into more detail about that on this thread though 

Wow...I am a major One Piece fan and I've never even considered the idea of blowing up the red line. Damn I'm so glad there are open minded ppl out there lol. This theory is pretty well thought out and has a lot of evidence to support it!

Currently the manga has finished the Punk Hazard arc and is in the beginning of the next arc. The anime is in the beginning/close to middle of the Punk Hazard arc.

So, a friend showed me this theory and I find it pretty clever. I've read the thread, and felt that maybe I can contribute a little.

I don't usually speculate, and have never come to this forum before, but here goes.

Let's assume everything said in the theory post is true

[...] Roger had his illness, but what of his crew?

Assuming that the idea of "One Piece" is to blow up Reverse Mountain (and FI etc) and connect the end of the Grand line with the beginning, as well as with the rest of the world. What was Roger's crew's reason to not try and do it themselves or make the secret known to the world? Perhaps the end of the grand line contained such great dangers (in quality or quantities) that not even Roger's crew could hold them at bay. That would be an explanation for Roger's masterplan to start the Golden Pirate Era. His speech about wealth, power, fame etc successfully made a shit ton of people want to become the strongest pirate. Maybe this was needed for this "One Piece" idea to become reality, because of the danger it comes with, and this is why Roger's crew couldn't go through with it and instead disbanded.

Hehe, thinking about it, maybe Crocus, a.k.a. Flower-Ossan, isn't just randomly placed at the Reverse Mountain. And Rayleigh is conveniently hanging out at the other spot; Fishman Island.

However, having seen this scene, I don't think Luffy is a fan of these theories . It's one of my favorite scenes because it's so strong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyhrIZsclb0

Theory looks solid, but Franky burned the blueprints to one of the ancient weapons, right?

I thought you needed a PhD in Manga Deciphering to even think of making One Piece theories, but this seems pretty legit.

This seems way too simple for the ending. I mean the total work will have taken 30 years to finish and blowing the red line really does not seeem like that big of a deal. Also, we are still missing big pieces of the puzzle like the last weapon and a bunch of other things. I think this theory is well thought of but going in the wrong direction. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Maybe Blackbeard will be a good guy later since he has D on his name, plus he currently have the Quake fruit which can be used to destroy Reverse Mountain. And what if the devil fruits are the ancient weapons?

Lol at the Sabo theory..

It was later stated in One Piece Green (http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/One_Piece_Green:_Secret_Pieces) that Sabo actually lost his life in the incident.

Manga and anime sometimes are a bit different, the part where Dragon holds someone, might prove that Sabo is acctualy alive, but the whole Doflamingo theory doesn't stand either way.

As for the other theory it has a lot of things sumed up, however i would not underestimate Oda's mind, knowning Luffy, he would not want to destroy fishman island or the reverse mountain, he'd find some other way.

I wont cling to any of the theories here or anywhere else, I will let Oda surprise me, the way I know he will

Althought the book was not written by Oda, so there is a possibility that Sabo is not dead and is with the Revolutionaries.

I will not believe it until I see it on the manga with my own two eyes.
