I generally only read manga online for free when it hasnt been licensed in english by any company. SO the only possible way to read it is through fan translations. Other then that I usually buy a digital copy or a print copy.

I almost never read manga online because it is a very unpleasant experience. I would love to buy it cheap (like $2 a pop?) on Amazon's Kindle service for use on their devices, but using a mouse and a computer screen is just awkward.

I love having print versions of manga. Amazon really made a huge move by taking most of the prices down t o ~$6.66, but it's still expensive. 90 minutes of reading costs $20.

Better? Better for whom?

There aren't many resources to read manga for free, in a way that fully honors copyright (jmamga7 is the only one I know of).

I sometimes read it because there are a lot of really good titles that never see a US release and I can't read Japanese. Otherwise I would just buy them. Sometimes I wonder just who makes the decision to release a title to the US and what they were thinking..or not thinking.

I much prefer owning my manga in print, for two reasons:

1) I want to support the manga-ka who created these titles that I love so much

2) I want to own the things I love, so I can enjoy them anytime, and lend them to friends

I'm not against previewing a title online (because you don't want to waste your money on something you might end up hating), but if you consider yourself a fan of a series, you should support the author by buying the series.

I prefer online because you don't have to worry about rubbing the ink and ruining the artwork. I prefer printed books, but so long as they are readable it doesn't matter what state they are in. You don't get this leeway with printed manga.

Also, lots of odd stuff such as Molester Man (don't judge based on the title please) will frankly NEVER be officially released in English, despite being totally awesome.

My eyes get tired from reading off a screen.
I stil prefer buying manga's, unless there aren't available here (which is most likely the case, seeing as I live in Holland);
Then I don't have a choice and try to read online ^^;

As for my preference, I prefer reading manga in print form. I like having the physical book.

I don't think there's anything wrong with reading an unlicensed manga online or trying out a manga online before you buy it, though.
