Actually I am not really here to watch anime or drama... I am here to discuss on the forums, to see news about a new coming anime etc. Sure I can watch some anime's here, but for me, I just like to talk about the anime that I love and have some fun with the guestbook feature And hey, the layout of the site is awesome enough for me.

Well, then, Crunchyroll doesn't have to worry about losing you to Daisuki, since Daisuki is going to be using this "anime" thing to try to get people to click through.

In the end, I guess it comes down to whether the catalog of shows is to my taste, but at the moment I'd abandon CR in a second if I had a better-working option I could stream on my TV. I've been having a long-running (2+ months) tech support issue with CR via my TV, and I have been very, very unimpressed with how they've handled it. If I communicated with customers at my workplace as badly as CR has communicated with me, I'd be in deep trouble with my boss. The main plus is that CR at least still works via my computer.

Unless it has an excellent streaming app for PS3, I won't be getting it.

Here are some screen shots of the Daisuki website that were taken from a recent NHK World report:

Well, I took a look around this morning and I was disappointed. There is really nothing on the site worth your time. They have five or six series up and those only have the first five or six episodes up. And then they are talking about paid episodes too. Are they going to a per episode model? So far, CR has nothing to worry about. They are going to have to do a lot of work to even make the site useful. Much less something someone would pay to use. There is an excellent article on the site about DAISUKI:

Needless to say, I am not quite as hopeful as the person quoted at the top.

I watched Puella Madoka Magica on Daisuki and the streams look weird, they get all blurry then pixeley because it's trying to automatically adjust to bandwidth. But theres no constant bandwidth settings, it seems they are running off the same encoding engine as niconico (which I wouldn't be surprised if they were). When I put it on auto bandwidth on hulu it never looks that poor, it's usually fine. If Daisuki doesn't do something to change that (soon) I'm not even going to bother with them anymore, and I think it will turn off a lot of other customers too.

I'm a loyal CR customer forever

With the service being out for only a few days its really difficult to judge. So far there isn't much there, but the service needs at least a whole year to fully establish itself, with it being either enhancing website and video quality or adding a larger selection of anime to the website. Just think, that Crunchyroll has had 7 YEARS to establish itself online as an anime streaming website and to get where it has got to now, Daisuki hasn't even had a month. But who knows, give it a few seasons or so with Daisuki taking some of the licences that Crunchy might of went in for, and there might be some competition.

Depends, if they go after the EU market then they could be a serious competitor since CR isnt very good for EU residents at the moment even if you subscribe

The selection right now is pretty small, and the player isn't as good as crunchyrolls right now. The site currently is also not very well laid out for finding new anime to watch. No forum, so unless they add that later that part won't affect CR.

On the plus side, at least some of the shows, like SAO, have free 720p streaming when network conditions are good, unfortunately it doesn't stream smoothly when things get busy in the video.
Having extra options to choose from is good though.
