As far as the mainstream part goes, I definitely think that hip hop is in a better state then it was in 5 years ago, I mean hip hop was pretty much overwhelmed by swag rap back then but now, you have acts like tde and proera keeping the game fresh.

As for the underground,it's always shining brightly and that's never gonna change.

I find that the hip hop community complains more about it's music than any other...why is that? Not saying you guys are complaining but this topic comes up a lot. We have so many choices these days that we didn't in the past. Now with social media, artists can directly give you the music and updates, every for free! We aren't limited to who is signed to Def Jam, etc. There are so many choices and great rappers out there but the few bums out there get all the attention. That's what I feel.

I don't care about publicity I'd just rather keep underground pure and untouched by industry fucks.

W complain we because something we love is being whored out, and transformed into dog shit. What's with all this house rap bullshit? Every mainstream rapper has a single or album that sounds like a house record from 1995. And then you have the gully nursery rhyme bullshit that's also getting a lot of airplay. The underground will always be the place for true heads but compared to 10 -15 yrs ago the pickings are slim there as well. It is indeed a sad state for hip hop right now.

Hip hop isn't dead, its hibernating. Right now most rappers and DJ that come out aren't making music to make music. They are doing it for the almighty dollar. They figure you come up with a house beat that throw a few lyrics to it and hopefully the masses treat it like its a god send. You make money now and then you can make the music that you wanted to later. Unfortunately greed takes over, not to mention Record labels and pretty soon u have been in the game for 10 years with only garbage as proof.

Underground music is underground music because it hasn't become mainstream. 10-15 years ago most of the underground scene were publishing there own music and selling the shit out of the trunk of there cars. They made music they enjoyed because there was no one in the shadows telling them what to do. Hip hop can definitely be woken up by people like Currensy, The Micronaughts, snypelife, Grand daddy IU, Freddie Gibbs, Cunnylinguists, Jedi Mind Tricks, Aesop Rock, Dom Kennedy , Rass Kass, Swollen Members, ect.

Lets have a moment of silence for those that tried , but just died off, Oynxx, Frost, C-B0 all three made a combined total of 40 CD's and they all failed, RIP
