I'm not entirely sure if this can be answered here but I'll give it a shot!

Basically I want to know more about employment at Crunchyroll. I know the HQ is in San Francisco but does Crunchyroll employ people overseas to work remotely on things such as Customer Service/Support? I live in England.

Any advice/answers are appreciated :)

Awesome! Would you recommend I e-mail a resume in to the jobs@ inbox or wait until I see the (hiring) tag next to the positions on the jobs page?

Thank you very much for the quick responses, Bjaker and Kippu!

Fair enough, but that's one of the main problems I have with Crunchyroll - how ignored the forums (not the front page one but the rest) are; I do notice that Bjacker and BasaoKazuma keep a good job replying to users in the Premium Member's Group and Support forum. Again, my intention here isn't to bash on moderators per say but to give my feedback as a user who [used to] frequent the forum.

As for why we quote the rules, its just a habit of mine from writing research papers to back up my statements with quotes and such.

I understand how problematic it can be to moderate the biggest thread on Crunchyroll but there's a lot of self moderation in the thread itself -- users do warn others about obscenity and encourage them to follow the rules. I think you've really need to be part of the /AMP/ to understand how things truly work there. I've seen the thread locked down several times for fair reason and there are times I find the moderation to be questionable. I only brought it up because it is the largest thread on Crunchyroll with over 11k pages of content, 40 million views, and a large user base of both lurkers and content providers.

Noting that it's the largest thread makes it much more than just a simple thread as it contains many visible users of the Anime forum. It's one of the most active threads, and when moderation is set on something of that caliber, it sets precedents for other threads.

From what I understand, you're looking at it from a moderator's perspective; like I mentioned above, you've really need to have assimilate in as a "normal" user to understand the machinations behind it. You've got to understand that /AMP/ is close to a collective whole on the CR Anime forum (to be honest this might be close to an over-exaggeration on my part).

I'll reply to AHTL's post later as I am typing this before class. Once again, I'm not here to lambaste the work of you moderators. I do appreciate the way you guys handle things but to reiterate, I find the methods questionable at times. Please take my words as feedback and not insults.

I'm just trying to understand what exactly you want and are looking for from the staff?

Your main problem is you think the moderators are ignoring the forums? Most of the moderators DO roam and post in the forums. Especially considering all our moderators are either forum or site mods.

As for the staff (which I think you're mixing with moderators. Please note just because the staff have "moderator" powers doesn't mean it's their job to mod the forums and user activity.), you can't expect them to use the forums. The staff consist of adults who come here to work in what ever department they're in and watch videos. It's not mandatory for them to use the forums and chat with users, and it shouldn't be. They should do it if they want to not because they have moderator powers.

They're here to work and enjoy watching shows. The reason you see mostly BK and Baker out of all the staff is because it's also part of their job description to take care of the Site/Support forum and to answer support questions. Actually if you notice, there's less and less of BK since he's busy working to roam the forums. Well others from the staff page concentrate more on the News, newsfeed, and livechat to interact with the users.

Like I said, it's not mandatory for them to use the forums, especially if they don't want to. We don't force our user's to use the forums, why should they be forced to? :/ Do you expect everyone on the staff page to write what "their favourite colour is" and "what they ate today"?

Asura: Let's just agree to disagree. I am not speaking for anyone else but myself. And, honestly, if you look at the two posts right below mine, there are people who are not moderators who don't like the AMP thread either. You're speaking from the perspective of a person who wants to convince others that AMP is great and should be embraced, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I was told by Kippu to come into this thread and contribute by posting about that I ate today since this is key information apparently.

So without further ado.......

I ate a microwaved corndog with mustard. It was divine.

You guys know how much I hate that thread.

Mind as well join in, I ate Chinese take-out. Fried noodles, chicken balls, and curry fried rice. I love how they pack in so much food. I'll be eating all this as left overs for the next two days (Breakfast, lunch, dinner). How do they not go out of business? They give one person a portion to feed 6. o__o

The thread mellowed out already and kind of accepted it already. There's no need to fret about too much at the moment. "LAWL"

AcidK has been cracking on posts more often now to actually now makes him a bit more active than the last few months. Xylot agreed not to be too brass. People are trying to adapt to a different styling. And from the talks on the Livestreams, part of the group doesn't mind the rulings as long at there's a bit more transparency on the other side of things. Although, some of them still questions the School Days, We, Without Wings, and such and such and such without the content advisory thingy and would like the same courtesy from the site they been in to extend said courtesy. Well, it's a process. (At least the thread folks aren't "terrorizing" the crunchyroll community like some groups in the past. They like to keep to themselves and the thread.)

Hey! At least it's not like the past where there was actual porn being posted and nothing is being done about it until a couple of months later; this was not just tits and ass; it was just an entirely different display of a very disgusting acts of almost canabalism. Hell, this wasn't the case when this version, 3.0, started. (The last time there was any actual porn on the thread was when someone decided to be a troll and spam some Gay Asian ones.)

AsuraCryin, you seem to have a good standing with the mods and the users on /AMP/ and the some of the crunchyroll community . Why not be some kind of that /AMP/ representative that you so suggested? You seem to be doing it now; most on the thread doesn't really go to the outside /AMP/ with the exception of watching the videos here.

Also, just a fun note. People on that thread do buy each other, the regulars, membership passes when they have competitions or random ass events. I say a good 30+ Anime Premium Pass have been distributed over the pass two years. Some have even converted it to a year's worth. There is some kind of fiscal gain, minute but some, from the thread, even more so than what's intended on something from the forums; again, this is the idea of why and how I get it to open in the first place. In a business perspective, think of it as a mini-9gag blogroll; it's not such a bad platform to have around; hell, the daily view count even manages to embrass some of the front page announcements stuff by a lot. It's boring, unfunny, and real spammy.

Don't forget unoriginal, uninspiring, and not really all too motivational in the first place. But people, like me, seem to have fun with it. "LAWL" (There are some gems there, but like with any actual gems, you have to dig deep to find them- really deep.)

The pictures are just part of the story. The reasons to why people keep coming back are the interaction and community in between those pictures; yes, the thread is aware that it's not really too funny, but it is entertaining in trying to be, and that's a good chunk right there to why some stick even after all those years. The pictures are merely what helps congeal it together and move it forward.

Could /AMP/ do this somewhere else? Yes. But, they choose to stay on crunchyroll despite of what has befallen on the thread. Looking it at that perspective, it's kinda sweet- or Stockholm Syndrome. "LAWL"

You know those motivational poster lithographs that you might see on an office space. Basically, it's that but applied to Anime. AMP is short for Anime Motivational Poster, so AMPer are the users here who makes them.

Basically, it's a thread on crunchyroll that tries to entertain itself with Anime stuff by captioning them.

Oh, so basically a thread for people to spam funny pictures with captions. I've seen a couple of pages of that thread. A lot of them deviate from the Motivational Poster theme.

I think it should be a rule that all moderators must have a Space Brothers Avatar. Keeps with the running theme.
