If you guys make me mod, I will ban those offenders without giving them a warning.
I mean, a ban is better at teaching them a lesson than warning them, which is why I'm kinda scared of Kippu.

Of course, that would include myself.
Is a moderator capable of banning himself?

But death @ Karka-chan for ignoring my post.
Bitch.

Fair enough, but here is the thing once more. I go into a thread due to a mod report in all honesty I typically have to mod a lot more than one post by the time I am done. There might have been five different users who posted 3 images. It is just a ton faster and easier to do the edits then make a post about why edits happened in the thread, rather than write out "don't post more than 2 images" in five different posts.

Wouldn't it be easier and faster to just delete the offending posts, leave a note on the thread on why the deletion with the offender's(s') names, and then send a PM to the offender(s) to their offense. I would've liked something like this when some of my posts were deleted.

I don't know how exactly you do it. I see different mods have different styles, but from what I've talked about to some users, they don't mind this kind of transparency.

(EDIT- I knew that you guys only come out when somebody snitches. "LAWL")

Besides the PM isn't that what they been doing? At least the Kuudere Harem God Mod does (Honestly haven't see the others crack down beside ATHL and Space Cow)

Though I think the PM would be a hastle

I didn't get a PM nor note about my stuff. I had to contest it myself. "LAWL"

Well, what I proposed would be threefold. There's the public acknowledgement; there's the setting of example; and, there's the personal touch.

I'm not saying write a whole essay or entertain them, but I am saying a short personal note to let them know what is up. I don't know. Probably some mods do this, but I have no way of telling because PM. Or maybe, things have been set to auto pilot to makes thing faster and less collateral damage. Or maybe, it's the point of the middle where it's not even realized. "LAWL"

EDIT-
Why is there still a "FANSUB" group section?

First of all, every moderator is different, every case when dealing with a user is different, and let me remind you, that you users aren't aware of what we do, who we edit, who we give warnings to, what we delete, who we ban, for what reason we ban them and overall can't see how we moderate unless it's usually directed towards you. But for the record we can. Infact, we even have a feature to let us know what moderator did exactly what. So don't assume what moderators do and don't since most of you aren't aware of our actions. There are moderators that I'm sure some of you think are inactive, but we're able to see that they are indeed active and are working. Which is the way it should be.

Moving on.

Depending on the user and post, we do edit, and then leave a marking. For example.

---------
Refrain from double posting! (in your case quadruple posting x__x) Use the edit button if you want to add more to your last post O___O ~Kippu

I even quoted this guy to let him know I edited his post.

-----------------------
Please refrain from double posting. Use the "edit" button if you would like to add more. ~Kippu

If the user has spammed so much, then it's not worth our time to merge and let them know. We delete it, and then send a warning to that user. If it's real bad, and other user's are getting involved (whether they're trying to help the moderators or are on the user's side), we give out public warnings of what we did, ALONG with a PM warning. Here's an example. (These are motivational pictures. I went to go find my posts but since we delete so much stuff from the AMP thread, the pages are disoriented. I don't have time to go through pages to find my posts.)

So we do quote users, PM warnings, leave marks, and other various things. Most of you user's aren't aware of it. Also, like I said, keep in mind that every case is different. So every action will be taken depending on the case and user.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but you should actually be happy that you haven't received a PM from us to let you know we deleted your post. If a moderator sends you a PM for an action they took upon the posts you made, it's usually to let you know you have received an official warning. Just so you guys know, when a warning is sent, it usually means you're just one step closer to a ban the next few times you screw up.

I banned -Vega- half an hour ago. Not only did I delete all his troll posts, but I also had to delete Spacebat and Ink-e 's posts as well since they kept quoting his troll posts. There was no need to let them know their posts were deleted since the posts were all towards the reported posts of -Vega-'s. Had I PMed them to let them know, it would have been a warning. And warnings just mean you're getting closer and closer to a ban.

Like I said, we do quote users, PM warnings, leave marks, and other various things. Most users aren't aware of it, unless it's directed towards them, and quite frankly it should stay that way. There's no need to make an announcement everytime we make a mod activity unless it's for a public warning. Also, like I said, keep in mind that every case is different. So every action will be taken differently depending on the case and user.

@Chrome

I just realized I'm the only mod that kept banning you .__.

Never realized I never had a real life role model/hero to look up to as a kid.

What's everyone else's childhood hero?

...I'm not sure if I ever had a childhood hero.

Wow, that was harsh.. Got it.

No, harsh would be banning you for a week or longer. When you sign up on this site you are agreeing to follow the rules and whatnot. You blatantly ignored the forums rules (which are VERY clear) and spammed in the forums.

You were let off with a warning, and having your spam deleted. How that is harsh baffles me.

I also really looked up to Neil Gaiman. Still do to this very day. The graphic novels that he wrote (Sandman and Books of Magic) really sparked my imagination (especially Sandman).

Love Neil Gaiman, his stories are the best. I have the entire Absolute Sandman collection. Love it, especially because it feels like you are reading some ancient tome.

Yes mods can ban themselves and other mods. We go on mod banning wars every once and awhile. In fact Mocha banned me for 250 years last week. There is one catch that makes this ban battles sort of ... moot though. We can ban each other... but we can also unban ourselves ;p.

PS: Your cannon can not damage my space suit, it is made of non existing materials. Also our engineers are working on the 250 year ban issue, apparently we can't ban people for longer than that and we feel that with the superior health care options out there and increasing average life span we need to increase it to 500 years minimum.

Like Kippu said, getting a pm is bad. That basically means you are getting a direct warning that says your next misstep is your last. Or it is something like "edit XYZ content out of your group or we will have to delete it". Long story short, you don't want to be pm'd by a mod about something official. That said, I have sent a fair number of pm's after doing my mod work.

Just remember this, good modding is like the CIA. When it is doing it's job and everything is right with the world you don't see it, you don't hear it, and it isn't in the news.

Well, Kippu, that's quite some interesting insight about the machination of moderation; it's nice for a normal user like myself to understand how things work because it give us a different perspective. The only thing I have left to say is that I wish this form of moderation was more visible for us to see.

One more quick question, how different is the community staff moderation than a Crunchyroll group moderator's power? I suspect that it is the same albeit with different resources to track down the rule breakers.

I'd like to suggest prime users having the option of choosing the moderators they prefer to be modded by. For instance I only want my posts moderated by a moderator with a Space Brother's theme.

Well, that would play to favoritism. Also who would be a prime user? People who pay for the services of the site or those that use the forums (in this case) constantly.

I assumed people who pay for the services were only considered prime. You're right, I shouldn't assume that was my mistake. Lets call people that pay for the site prime users then. What's wrong with playing favoritism? Pretty sure the site favors paying customers.

For the lack of the best example, say chrome she (I believe) has a great relationship with the mods. I wouldn't know through the professional front if a new user (who just got premium membership) would be treated. I would say favoritism amongst users (of premium accounts) would not be the best idea.

I would think favoritism is already in place just a bit more discrete and not openly discussed to be put forth.

This.

Though, sometimes, when things happen after years, one's just has to ask "The hell man?"

I appreciate the points of transparency in the previous discussion.

Also, this.

You guys probably get more mess than appreciation from the users and probably don't get enough "thanks", but you guys knows I be giving yous props. There's not really much veneration to you guys on my side, but I got to give you folks some credit to helping crunchyroll make some money on your free time. "LAWL"

Also, random achievemnt of the day: it's prom season. I got a call from a girl that I did a photoshoot for. She said that she won prom queen because of my work. Well, I'm a happy zen. "LAWL"
