Anime is more real than Reality TV. Dear god, who ever thought of such a idea of making survivor, keeping up with the kardashions, and big brother need to have their balls cut off!

I guess I like anime just because it's kinda unpredictable. I mean, sure you got the extremely generic stuff like the big eyes, fanservice, moe, etc. but the plots and genres can really juxtapose eachother. One day I could be watching a man who slowly falls in love with a robot, another day I could be watching a show about how some humans have to fight against angels with robots. There's really not many boundaries when it comes to the anime realm.

Watching anime is more enjoyable than watching reality TV shows like Keeping up with the kardashians. Anime also taught me a lot of stuff, like morals and just life tips in general. The action animes are more flashy and epic compared to watching action cartoons or movies. I love when animes have things such as plot twists, romantic aspects and dramatic aspects to it. I also enjoy the characters of some even more than people in real life, even if they are fake. Anime has actually made me tear up in some parts, such as when a character dies or something sad happens. When I watch someone die in a movie, I don't have any "feels" to it at all. I've also noticed that watching anime makes me happy. It helps me escape from the real world.

I agree with all of this especially H/L section.

Character development is much better usually. You actually feel for the characters.

Mostly for the stories. Also it's encompassed my whole life so It's always been around. I tried getting way from it but it always came back so i just accepted it with open arms.

I watch anime for good wholesome stories about convicts, guns, actions with humor that would otherwise look ridiculous in a low-budget live action.

I just feel like there's a certain degree of emotion in anime that I can't find in any American cartoons.

The reason I like anime is because they have the ability to create stories that are normally denied by Hollywood and the restrictions that are placed on what can be shown. Anime has been slowly influencing Hollywood to stretch it limits and some popular films were made that most have no idea were connected to anime, the greatest example I can think of is The Matrix. Before it, many people had never seen a film like it and were awed by it becoming a huge success. As someone who has a passion for film like me, how can you not acknowledge it. Also for parts that would be normally passed off as unrealistic in other forms of film, Anime has the excuse of it not having to be realistic at all. When we press that play button we are no longer in our world but a different world entirely.

Also the obvious answer is that it's just fun to watch. Anime has reached into many of our hearts to make us laugh, cry, excite, confuse, and astonish. With the habit of making us crave more till the next episode.

That is just part of why I like anime.

I watch anime because it fills that one huge hole in my heart that makes me question my own existence. It is the only thing that brings me joy in this world, and also motivates me to work, so I can buy more and more!

Anime just has that something that American cartoons do not. Anime think outside the box, they are darker, they are just better lol.

Well initially because I always loved cartoons when I was a kid , so it was natural for me to like anime as soon as i saw one.

But now its also because the story are better , lots of variety, and its got contents that are geared for older audience and or a mix thereof . So no matter how old you are watching anime , you still feel like a kid

The main reason I love anime is because of the plots and characters. Anime, and not really just anime, but I find that a lot of Asian entertainment at large (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, especially), are just more intelligently done than American entertainment. From the music to movies.

American TV is full of reality garbage and episodic sitcoms, that to me, aren't really that clever. Now, you do have some exceptions, such as Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Parks and Rec, etc... But very few shows are of that caliber. While, with anime, I find that literally hundreds of animes are better than the stories you'd see on TV. I've never seen a TV show pull off something like the Zero Requiem or what happened with The Furor, Martel and the inside of Alphonse Elric's armor.

It's the same thing with American movies. Our movies are generally dumbed down 3D explosion fests. While, and I find this to be especially true of Korean films, the delivery is extremely intelligent, the characters have more depth, and the stories actually have swerves you don't see coming a mile away.

And don't even get me started on music. The whole world practically beats us in that. We're pumping out garbage like Miley Cyrus, Justin Beiber and Little Wayne. Give me Crystal Kay, Zion T., BECCA, Yuna, Paulo Nutini or James Morrison, any day.

This isn't to say that American entertainment doesn't have its bright spots, great films and good singers. It's just that I find more thought goes into what's happening across the pond and to the East.

Huh, I actually never thought of that question.
Well I guess it's because It's really entertaining to to me. The plot, the characters, the setting; there's just something in anime that western cartoons usually don't have. I really don't know why, I just like it. A lot.
