This Show will blow your mind, if you haven't seen it i would recommend this to everyone.
It seems like a strange show at first but once you start watching it you will be hooked.
I've watched through it twice and cried both times it was just so emotional and perfect. Honestly, just go watch this.

Anyway i want to hear what everyone else feels about this so please post.

When were you born? This show is awesome, but slightly old. Emotional and fucking badass, yes. Worthy of a thread created by a user who has only watched it twice? No.

In my honest opinon.. Whoever does not like this show will forever be irrelevant in terms of anime.

It's ok... but it just doesn't know where to stop. I watched it a few times a few years ago, I enjoyed it on the first watch but not so much on repeated viewings.

Yoko is of course hot though.

Dropped it after like 6 episodes. Never been a huge fan of mecha, and the whole drill thing is meh.

Some of the stuff looks cool, though.

it's probably one of the most passionate shows i've ever watched and i love it, but the story is so fucking dumb filled with deux ex machina, loop holes, and a habit of screwing the rules (an eternally deep sea in space for instance)

Seems like Syfy Channel carried this series a few years ago but it got dropped for a major shift in their network programming. When that happened I did check out the remainder of the series either on YouTube installments or at an illegal anime website. I liked 85% of the show immensely. What impressed me about the series was carrying the idea of self-governance through after many of the disputing factions forged an alliance. Sure there were periodic plot holes and certain aspects of the storyline went beyond the pale but this series was 1 of the first I noticed where the audience got to view growth in the characters as they matured, recognition (for better or worse) of hierarchies in democratic governance, plus the usual pitfalls 1 of the main characters experienced morphing from local hero loved by the masses to eventual abdication of authoritarian rule.

I thought the show did a credible job illustrating the pitfalls of the power dynamic shared between the govenors in the name of fairness. What seems like a good idea to the mind has no practicality in application as the show illustrated in later episodes. Gurren Lagann, as far as I'm concerned, is an anime series that should be in everyone's core collection because of this concept called democracy in action. And the song "Sky-Colored Days", that is certainly 1 of my favorite anime OST tunes.
