Kampfer was bad, and here we are getting a second season of it. Go figure.

Shattered Angels was really bad.

Henneko is starting to get bad for me. They can't seem to decide whether or not the main character actually is a pervert or a nice guy, the love interest's monotone voice and lack of expression is getting old, and they pull out the most random plot twists and expect you to swallow them.

Fractale was bad, with the serious and often icky direction it went with later episodes.

Cat Planet Cuties was pointless.

Probably the worst one I've seen though is Rin: Mnemosyne. It's really violent, with some nasty sexual imagery and rape overtones. It's one of the few anime I don't recommend anyone to watch, ever.

Just curious, but what was it that you found icky in the later episodes of Fractale?
Was it when the main character was almost seduced?

I don't really care for Sailor Moon either, though it's for entirely different reasons than what others would think. I had first heard of it when I was little and the first thought that came to me was that their clothes were too short and so I didn't like it because of that and just never really tried to get into it as I got older.

Also it would be nice of you to choose a better word than "retarded", because that is insulting to people that mental disabilities.

Anything with Barrot in it.

Also, it started out as a fairly lighthearted anime, almost like a science-fiction Miyazaki, and then you had the "good" guys gunning down people at that meeting in the third episode, and a startlingly serious mood shift that sucked all the fun out of the premise. I really liked the series before episode three, but in my opinion it spectacularly flamed out after then.

But that was sort of the whole point of Mnemosyne. It was meant to be very dark, violent, and sexual...It's actually a VERY good show, and the plot is also very well written I thought. I also liked how each episode represented a different point in history (from the past, present and far future)

I'm not trying to sound critical or insulting, but you seem to be very prude...

Ninja Resurrection. That one aggravated me not only because it was purposely offensive (i.e. so gratuitously violent that it took me aback, which is not easy to do), but because it was marketed as a sequel to Ninja Scroll, which it most assuredly is not.

It's not good at all, honestly. There's too much of a "sex means death or rape" vibe to it with the whole "men-demons devour women-angels while they are helpless due to desire" thing. It would be one thing if the subtext were subtle, but they hit you over the head with it in every single episode. Even getting information makes the main characters put up sex as a trade because they are forced to; the woman providing it won't take any other currency. Then there is the violence, and and come on; way too much"women get pierced by something in a Freudian sense," for comfort. The ending was horrible too; let's suck the baddie into a giant version of lady parts!

i don't mind sexy series, but most of what I listed there was not bad because it was sexy, it was just bad. Kampfer had a stupid, lifeless main protagonist and a dumb world. Cat Planet Cuties had nothing but fan service to care about; you could have removed the cats and made the story about the two "normal" girls and nothing really would have changed. I didn't like Fractale because it set up to be one thing and switched to be something worse. Rin was just too nasty to really like. You wonder if the director was working out issues or something.

Obviously, nothing in my post is aimed towards the developmentally disabled. You want to get into semantics? Maybe you should check your own mindset for associating the word "retarded" with someone who's handicapped, which I find derogatory and would never use in conjunction with a person. Just saying.

I'd say Sword Art Online, it's one thing to be bad, but it's another thing to be pretentious and cliche. One thing I admire from School days is it's originality, this isn't a matter of opinion really, an original piece of work is very superior to a show that just steals ideas and mixes around commonly used themes and calls it original. So School days may have flaws but at LEAST it;s original and I admire that, this is based off Kuroneko's philosophy from Oreimo. When an artist creates something, it can never be wrong, there is no right or wrong way to create something and no one is right when they insult a show much like the movie Ed Wood, people just create for their own pleasure and won't give a damn about what people say or think...........HOWEVER.........There is an exception to that rule because you are no longer an artist when you steal ideas and write lazy dialogue and idiotic plot, SAO had no originality and the characters were flat as cardboard, and it tried so hard to act like it was some kind of superior show but it wasn't and that's where pretentiousness kicks in. At first I thought Infinite Stratos was the worst, then came along Boku Wa Tomodachi, but SAO will forever take the cake, because it's Twilight

Not directed at me but as someone who has seen Mnemosyne I feel I can comment on it. I don't have a problem with dark, ugly shows or movies. I've seen Violence Jack all the way through twice, I watch hentai in my spare time, and i've got an affinity for horrific 90's anime. So i'm not someone you could really consider to be a prude.

There's nothing wrong with being dark and ugly to get a point across. I see School Days as a good example of this showing just how terrible a person who would do the things a typical harem protagonist does would have to be. While I felt the rape felt forced (make a pun and die) it didn't overwhelm the original message that everyone in the series is a psychotic asshole. It is an ugly, ugly series and it really isn't much fun to watch but it's not meant to be. It's a very delicate tightrope act that very few series can manage.

I felt like Mnemosyne tried to do that, i'd agree that the storytelling is pretty good, but was so intent on being shocking that it completely forgets what it set out to do in the first place. If there had been fewer attempts to force in the sex and violence and more just letting the story flow as it was it could have been salvaged. As is while it's far from the worst thing i've ever watched it doesn't really stand out from a lot of uber violent, contemplate our navels, 90's OVA's i've seen which means that on my scale it's somewhere below average.

I agree with you on that completely. It was a bit pushy with the sex and violence, but if you could manage to get past that, the story itself was good. There are countless shows I'd much rather never watch, and I would watch mnemosyne before I would even think about tormenting myself with some of the completely awful shows that have come out in the past. It's not great, but it's not horrible. It most definitely is not for everyone.
