Anybody else hyped for this series coming back!? This was seriously one of the best shows I've ever watched, and it's just so great to see it again but with glory of today's new animation technology. Seriously, this is the greatest news I've ever heard since, like, ever.

Is Crunchyroll showing the simulcasts as well?

This is one of my all time favorite series, so I'm very excited about it. From what I've seen, the reboot is even better than I could have hoped for.

No word yet on whether or not CR will host the simulcasts. I sincerely hope so.

Looks a bit like BSG in anime form, wonder if it can live up to how brilliant that reboot series was

I will utterly squeeeeeeeeeeeeeak if CR gets it.. omg please let them get it. I grew up with this series as Star Blazers. I want to see it in original form and cleaner. LOVED the previews they had earlier of it (10 minutes of the first and 2nd episodes) on Youtube. My jaw dropped.. I'd totally want to see it on CR.. let it happen.. And yeah we talked about running home from school to see the episodes as they aired. I swear that was my friggin' soap opera in grade school.. LOL

It is funny to see 40+ year olds who grew up with Space Battleship Yamato / Starblazers and 17 year olds also interested in this show. I hope I can watch it legally here. Looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah, I can see how that would be funny. Personally, I'm happy that those around my age are being exposed to the Space Battleship Yamato series. I've seen the abridged film version of the original series as well as one of its films, Be Forever Yamato, sometime in 2011. I was very moved during both films, especially Be Forever Yamato. I tried to watch Final Yamato on and off but unfortunately, Netflix removed it on stream before I could get a chance to finish it.

Dup? What do you mean by that (unless it's a mispeling)?

I think 'dup' means duplicate..?? w/e=whatever.?? OI!

I too have seen a little of the SBS yamato 2199- I have seen all of the old series, and would also love it if C.R. picked it up as well!

There was a previous topic, but it has been locked:

Considering who was responsible for the second and fourth posts, I'm not surprised you had a lingering sense of this being a dup.

I agree.

I've been lucky to see everything in this franchise. Late in 2011, a bunch of the movies were available for free streaming, but only in Japanese. I thought the live action movie was particularly good. Essentially, it is a distillation of everything in the first two animated movies, plus a few things thrown in for good measure. It's mostly because of this movie and Yamato Resurrection doing well that we are getting the reboot.

While I still love the original series, it hasn't aged that well. So, I'm glad the reboot is fixing the inconsistencies and bad science, plus upgrading the animation and story. Overall, it looks great and I'm sure it will bring in a lot of new fans.

I too am pretty excited about this "reboot" series. I grew up watching Starblazers in the early 80's (woke up early every morning to make sure I didn't miss an episode ), and like everyone else here hope that it gets picked up for simulcast. If not by Crunchyroll, then hopefully by someone else. BTW - For anybody that has a Roku, the Manga anime channel has a bunch of the Yamato movies, as well as the entire 1st season of Starblazers available for free viewing.
