in anime like Naruto and Bleach.

If you ask me, if you're not doing everything you can to keep up to date with the story(like read the manga) you don't care that much.

"I don't like manga" isn't an excuse as far as I'm concerned because again, if you can't be bothered to read a 17-20 page chapter(which is at least 50% picture) I don't think you can really say you care all that much. It's like saying, I prefer to keep myself at least 40 chapters behind the current one just because.

Preferring the anime is fine and understandable and if you want to wait, that's your business, but don't complain.

I mean I just saw a comment that someone stopped playing the new naruto game because it has "spoilers"(which it doesn't because the story is beyond that point). Really? that's the point we've reached now?

Like I said, I just don't get how people think like this. No offense of course, just my honest opinion

I agree, I always read ahead in the manga and novels and web pages but in Kotoura - san someone just said not to discuss the "original material"... Um, where do you think it came from??! Sigh... Too bad few want to discuss the adaptation in context with the original here...

I was discussing Say I Love You manga in the manga forum but then a mod closed it, said there is an anime for it so you should discuss the manga in the anime forum but it was not appreciated by everyone in the anime forum....

It's simple. There are some people (like me) who prefer to watch anime than to read manga. If I read part of the manga that hasn't been adapted yet, the impact of the corresponding anime episode is reduced. It could also be seen as a waste of time to read manga that you know is going to be adapted soon anyway.

For example, I really like what I've seen of Chihayafuru 2 so far. If I wanted to, I could read the manga that the series is based on to see what happens next. But then when I come back to watch the anime, I'd already know what's coming. I think Chihayafuru 2 is really brought to life by the animation and sound, which is part of the reason I enjoy the series so much. To say that I don't care about the show because I don't want to spoil myself by reading the manga is quite insulting.

My point was on long running things that go for 10+ years, not anime that finishes within a season or 2. When you have an anime, that's been running for 10+ years, always a set amount behind the manga, filled to the brim with filler, no I don't think a person cares enough to where they should be complaining about it.

If it's a show where it will be 3 months airing from start to end, then I understand that, but that's not what I'm talking about.

Basically what TotalPotato said, some people just prefer to follow the anime rather than read the manga. Like with Naruto, for example, a lot of people only watch the anime, thus, they don't want to know what happens farther in the story through manga spoilers. It ruins it for them.

I honestly have no problem with either. Spoilers don't matter to me, reading the manga or watching the anime doesn't matter to me, as long as I get to experience the story (no matter how little of one there may be).

As I said, I fully understand preferring the anime, but I don't think you should be able to complain when you are actively keeping yourself behind.

Right, you shouldn't, but it still isn't fair when people spoil the story for you regardless. People are going to complain, it's a fact.

Yeah I know people are always going to be people. Just kind of made this to have some discussions while waiting for gamestop to open to get the new Naruto game

Seriously? Well it is a nice topic of discussion, albeit one that can be easily resolved.

When your actively spoiling things for people you're the one in the wrong. Spoiler tags are easy to put on posts so don't be that guy everyone hates.

If I want to comment on something that is common knowledge, readily available to everyone, it's not my problem if people are actively keeping themselves from said information

I don't go on to videos with the intention of spoiling things, but then again I'm not really able to spoil anything, since again I only know what everyone else can easily know as well

That just isn't right, since you were discussing the manga in the manga forum. There should be a mechanism for appealing such moderator decisions.

So, maybe having not heard of a series/gotten around to watching it yet counts as actively keeping themselves away from it? Bullshit, people have lives to live that come well before anime, there are so many older anime I intend on watching but I have a very hard degree to be getting on with so I only have a set amount of time for anime. Its totally not fair to go around spoiling things intentionally with no warning, infact I think it should be a punishable offense, its just the biggest form of douche-bagger you could have on a forum like this.

except that is completely irrelevant. We're talking about a series someone is actively following, but purposefully staying a steady pace behind, not a show you haven't even started on. Plus it takes far less time to read a manga chapter as compared to watching an episode. Can be speed read in 5 minutes and comfortably read in 15. If you can't give that much time to a series a week, as I said above, you can't care enough about a series that you should be complaining.

Also with an older series, why would you be on a forum about it if you haven't started it yet? That point doesn't even make sense.

In addition, posting something about Naruto in say a Bleach topic or episode, yeah I agree, that's messed up, because someone who is actively avoiding spoilers, shouldn't be reading comments in areas related to it, but if they are say on a Bleach forum, it's not their fault if they see something that happens in the Naruto manga, it's the posters fault.

Wow, You deserve a medal bro. I don't think I've ever disagreed this much with something on the internet, and I had a Youtube page.

''I don't like manga'' doesn't mean you can't be bothered to read 17-20 page chapter, it means ''I don't like manga''. I ,for example, used to exclusively watch the Naruto anime and I loved it. But at some point, my friends at school started greeting me with Manga spoilers everyday. It was frustrating, so I started reading the manga. I still do, but I never once liked reading the manga. Personally, I find it boring but I don't have a choice now. And I've been robbed of the excitement I used to have when watching the anime because I know everything that's going to happen.

I mean I just saw a comment that someone stopped playing the new naruto game because it has "spoilers"(which it doesn't because the story is beyond that point). Really? that's the point we've reached now?

You seem to be fan of the series so I assume you know they never go beyond where the anime is at. That being said, I don't know what episodes you've been watching but the battle in which Naruto gets that transformation hasn't happened yet, thus, thou shall be called by the name ''spoiler''.

Basically I'm saying If you're actively keeping yourself behind, you just have to deal with the consequences

Basically I'm saying if you're actively posting Manga spoilers on an Anime exclusive site, you just have to deal with the spoiler tag.

Thank God I still have One Piece though
