I was under the impression that there arent alot of shoujo titles so a top 10 is a bit much >.<

(Some in my list are Josei, but since Josei IS Shoujo but for older audiences, it should be alright)

Junjou Romantica 1 and 2 (this is shoujo, but at the same time yaoi)

Kuragehime/Jellyfish Princess (again, another Josei)

Saiunkoku Monogatari (Josei again...what can I say, Josei does it better)

Fruits Basket (manga tells the whole story)

In my opinion, Shonen and Seinen romances are far better than Shoujo. Shoujo's mostly crap anyway.

All Yaoi is either Shoujo or Josei by its very nature. Not to say that it doesn't have some male followers, but its targeted at women. Manga that is actually targeted at gay men is called Bara.

Ano Hana and Toradora are both SHONEN series NOT Shoujo.

Same here. It was more like a trivia of the day type thing. I just see a lot of people misuse the target audience genres a lot(Shounen, Shoujo, Josei, Seinen), because they can't seem seperate in their minds that certain other genre types don't automatically link themselves to one of those four. Some people think that all romances are Shoujo when some of the best romance titles, including fan favorites like Toradora, are actually Shounen, Josei or Seinen.

Sorry I can't recommend any titles to you since bara has no inherent interest for me. (I'm straight) Not to say that I wouldn't read one if it had an a good plot and wasn't just porn, but I don't go out of my way to find them on my own. I do know of a Shounen title that is centered around a (potentially) gay or transgender "straight" couple though. Prunus GIrl is the name of it. Its a kind of lighthearted comedy, and there is some romantic tension between the two main characters who are best friends, though one of them is a self proclaimed guy even though he dresses like a girl. Aikawa's gender is never outright revealed though. so its left ambiguous, I think intentionally to make readers take a look at what love is without the context of gender. I think its a cute story if you want to check it out.

Yeah I don't have any problem reading Yaoi/Yuri either, they just don't have anything that draws me in to read them. Due to Yaoi's tendency to be centered around dominance relationships(something that I actually don't like including when its straight) I tend to not bother with it unless somebody lets me know ahead of time that a title where it isn't a central theme. I like romances to be romantic. Not to say that I mind assertive/passive characters, but creeper molestation isn't a way to start a relationship. Usually Yuri is more sweet so Im more likely to give it a shot if I'm bored.

Been meaning to check out Nana for a while, but have been busy getting ready to move. I should be actually getting some furniture moved right now but Im burnt out. I'll have to check out the other titles you'd mentioned as I'd either forgotten they existed or just never appeared on my radar before.

I did, but i quit after seeing 4 episodes. Wasn't bad but i like some comedy.
