On March 6 2013, WizKids / NECA, LLC, announced that 4K Media Inc., the newly formed and wholly owned subsidiary of Konami Digital Entertainment, will be releasing a line of games using the Wizkids HeroClix and Quarriors Dice Building platforms, which will feature the Yu-Gi-Oh! Classic animated library of characters.
According to Wizkids, "The first HeroClix release will feature approximately 50 collectible HeroClix figures released with a two player Starter and Booster expansion packs. The product is expected to hit the market later this year with additional sets being released throughout 2014.".
The press release also states that "Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix and Dice Building Games will be available at specialty, hobby and comic book stores worldwide excluding Asia.".

Now, for those of you who have no idea as to what HeroClix is, it is a collectable minitures game which started in 2002. Each miniture stands on a base that contains a combat dial that you "click" when a character takes damage, and each character has their own special powers and abilities that they can use in battle.
Originally, players could have their favorite characters from Marvel Comics and DC Comics go head-to-head with one another. Teams could be created using favorite characters such as Batman, Spider-Man, The Joker, Captain America, Wolverive, and The Flash. Several expansions in the Marvel and DC series would follow, and feature a number of characters that were not included in the original core sets.
A third series, known as Indy, featured characters from other companies, such as Top Cow with Witchblade and Dark Horse with Hellboy, just to name a few. Following the release of the Indy set though, the game would continue to grow and evolve, but only with Marvel and DC sets.

In more recent years, after going through something of a rough patch which looked like it would be the end of the game, HeroClix has continued to get bigger and better. Unlike before though, several universes from outside of the comic book worlds have been included into the game, including Gear of War 3, Halo, The Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, and Street Fighter just to name a few. And now, as has been stated above Yu-Gi-Oh! will be coming to the table for battle.

So, what do you think of this addition to such an expansive collectable minitures game? Is it something you might be looking into now? Are you now interested in collecting the minitures for your ever-growing anime collection?

Seems cool. I never really got into hero clicks, but I've played it before and it was interesting. Not sure how well a Yu-Gi-Oh set will do. I feel like most people who play Yu-Gi-Oh now a days are pretty hardcore about it and would rather spend their money on cards.

Although you do have point, there are also a number of other fans of the series that aren't hardcore players and may simply collect a few cards here and there or just watch the series on TV, and those types of people might be interested in the Yu-Gi-Oh! HeroClix. Aside from that, there's also the actual HeroClix players that the game would appeal to.
