Like so many of the other posters have said, I haven't intentionally tried to make friends with someone for the purpose of discussing anime or manga, but I hint at it a little with some people. I don't really care to discuss it at a technical level, but it would be nice to just have somebody that was into watching anime to hang out with.
I've thought about hitting the local comic shop just to make contact, but there's only one in my little town, and it seems more 'western' oriented. I may have to make a trip to a con one of these days though, because I've noticed at least a small handful of people on CR from my state - maybe I'll see them there?

I find it difficult, I know what u mean in England it isn't really spoken of in the open really I got one mate at work who watches one piece and that's all he watches sure he watched like the older ones like akira, street fighter and DBZ.

It is difficult, but there are a few people I know who watch anime / manga, but i don't really talk about it much. We just recommend anime to each other, or new games.
Finding people who like anime is pretty common for websites like this. For an example, this forum is an excellent way to talk about anime / manga / other with people you don't know.
It's most interesting talking with people you don't know, than with people you do know  |

I don't find it hard, all you really need to do is jump online and chatter away. Offline is a little tougher but there are some people out there willing to talk about stuff like that.

I don't find it difficult at all because I prefer not to talk to people in real life about it because most of the time I know they don't watch it or read it. I don't mind. |

Not hard at all. I'm apart of the NEOtaku community in the Cleveland/Columbus/Sandusky/Painsville area that is meant to make meetups for everyone who loves anime/manga.

Dumb hard, I have a low self esteem on top of that so it's really hard to interact with other people in general not just anime.
Altho I do have 2 close friends who are into anime so I can discuss many topics with them.

hmmm....i wouldn't say it's difficult. anime/manga/video games are all things that i do when i'm on my own. when im meeting new people, its usually when im doing something social like at a sporting event, at a bar, in a club, etc. when people bring up that they like anime/manga/video games i just say something along the lines of "cool. me too" and thats about it.

Apparently not that difficult. Didn't know the IT guy at my job was into anime. We had a nice long chat yesterday and I gave him a guest pass to CR. Lol |
