So, I'm a little confused as to what the entry requirements for this contest are. Just create and upload stuff to this thread, no restrictions? I cant put stuff in for the artist alley form because I'm already signed up to it. Incidentally, I was accepted today before I found out about the contest, does that mean that the two pages I submitted count as an entry (because they were from two completely different stories).
Likewise, I just uploaded a bunch of pages to Artists Alley, and they admissible as entries or no? |

Well, I considered entering this until I saw the price. It looks really fun, but I would rather draw my own. However, I have a question, how is this software useful? Don't mangakas draw their own manga or can people submit to publishers with this?

I checked the ComiPo! FAQs and it said that you can use ComiPo! to self-publish (doujinshi) but I did not say if commercial publishing was allowed or not. Also, even if you could use this, personally, I think you would stand a better chance writing it yourself, if you wanted to submit a manuscript a big name publisher like Shueisha or Square Enix. |

Hi, thanks for replying. I thought so, then this software is useless or rather it's more like a video game. It would be fun to create my own manga, but I think I have more chance getting a novel published than a manga. I think I may look up how many non-Japanese or non-Asian sent manuscripts were accepted by big name manga companies. |

My understanding of the copyright situation is that anything goes so long as you dont attempt to claim ownership of the models or included assets. There have been books published that were made using the software. This said, I doubt many publishers would want to sign a ComiPo produced comic anyway, the book I'm talking about was about tax law.
Still, it has its uses even if you want to draw most of the content yourself. |

I'd enter, but unfortunately all of the ideas that I have that might even in the slightest bit come close to winning, would require 3D models that I either haven't finished or gotten around to making yet.

@faith1323
Actually, the software I've found is very useful for quick storyboarding. Especially if designs are still in the making. Also, since the models are all 3D it's an easy source for turnaround models. Other than that it's just a lot of fun to play with. Anyway, if you bothered watching the commercial you'd know it's aimed at people who have ideas but can't draw. |
