YESSSSS!

Buttttt I agree with the original poster. A lot of anime has become generic. There are a lot that are unique, though. You just have to find 'em.

Examples? And define "now." Like the last 10 years? 5 years? What are you even talking about OP?

No, I do not think that female anime characters have become generic.

Just because a character's personality conforms to some basic patterns (tsundere, drunk party girl, cool big sis, etc.) doesn't mean they cannot simultaneously be an original and interesting character, with a personality which is unique from others within their category. Compare Misato Katsuragi and Mitsune Konno, both "drunk party girls", yet still with radically different personalities, motivations, designs, roles, and so on. Then compare Yoko Littner and Haruka Tenou, both "cool big sis" characters who are as different as night and day and with very different roles to play.

Or perhaps you're not talking about personalities or roles. Maybe you're saying that female characters' appearances have become generic and boring copy/paste jobs. This isn't something I buy into either. While faces, eyes, and general body shape (that is, the mannequin) might be borrowed between characters, at the same time these are far and away from all that goes into a character's design. Hair color, eye color, skin tone, height, what clothing they wear, how they wear that clothing, what accessories they have (if any at all), altering these things and more can take a generic body model and turn it into a completely unique appearance, a totally different person.

If you're not saying that characters' designs, personalities, or roles are generic, I've got no idea what you're talking about.

I don't really understand. Any specific examples? Compare and Contrast? I don't see how any anime girls are generic

This is a pointless thread. I feel like it'll just garner off-topic posting and flaming. You provide no examples, no reasoning as to why you came to your conclusion, etc. Troll thread detected. Locked.
