I discovered Kickstarter early last year.

Originally I just wanted to give a hand to a 3rd party publisher for Pathfinder stuff, he wanted to put something out for Free RPG day promoting his Pathfinder setting and since I liked his stuff I figured I'd lend a hand.

Then I discovered more and now I've backed a total of 24 projects... only 1 has failed so far.

Sometimes a little, and sometimes a lot (the stretch goals...they call to me)

Mostly it's games, Table top and RPG but a few video games too.

Between the Reaper Bones, Relic Knights and Kingdom Death I'll be painting miniatures for the next decade.

I'm proud of what I've put money towards and I'm looking forward to receiving my various rewards, there is even some animated projects like Kick Heart from production IG.

but it is damn easy to get caught up in these things.

So is anyone else here a Kickstarter Addict or even just a fan?

Is production IG the anime company behind Kimi ni Todoke? The name sounds familiar lol and no I never back kickstarters. I just do not trust them with my hard earned cash.

One and the same. They wanted to do an animation project just for them, apparently to get back to the roots of the studio so they went to Kickstarter to fund it.

Managed to raise 200K, enough above their original goal that they are doing an official English Dub and Spanish Subtitles

Well, I would support something like that definitely. ^ I loved Kimi ni Todoke and the animation style it had. Also, since they're a pretty 'official' company I feel like my money is safer.

Some of the projects look pretty clever, and there's lot I'd love to support. But alas, I can't afford to. I've thrown $5-10 at a couple (I think there was was one I put $50 toward). It's nice to see original ideas, something besides the production-line stuff that is usually made.

By and large I tend to stick to companies or people I feel I can trust. Have gone a little risky on a couple of things that looked really neat though.

For the Animation Projects I back there is Kick-Heart that I already mentioned, an OVA based on Zeneoscope Grim Fairy Tales comic and a project by John K (who did Ren & Stimpy) honoring his dad called "Cans without Labels: A George Liquor Cartoon"

I just love animation, regardless of what country it comes from

You can make profit, depending on the rewards. Which is hilarious.

I've backed two projects so far. One interesting thing was a local youth group was using it to raise money for a sports tournament. It was people in my own town looking for help, and it only took a few clicks of the mouse to possibly make a difference.
