What Lesser-known Anime Were Your Favourite?

Hyouge Mono. I don't expect anyone to license this series. It's a fairly slow and serious story about a warlord who's obsessed with art and tea. It incldues a lot of specific history references, and it doesn't have much in the way of spectacle. Since patience and maturity are required to appreciate it, I'd recommend Hyouge Mono for fans who are over 25 years old.

Mayo Chiki Shōnen Onmyōji Intrigue in the Bakumatsu Level E Yamada's First time Ramen Fighter Miki Disgaea (the anime obviously) Basilisk These could be pretty popular, but I really don't know.

If we're talking lesser known as obscure even by devout anime fan standards, I'd say Betterman.
