Seems like I'll have something to do this weekend.....

I've watched so much anime yet have rarely ventured into the movie area and seeing as these are some pretty big titles that I have heard of before it would be silly to pass this chance up. Yay! Crunchyroll!

So uh... Does anybody have any idea why these are only here for like 3 days a year?

It's licensing, but we are lucky enough that CoMix Wave Films allows us to make them available at least once a year. Still, if we get enough participation and views, it would help our stance to make them available year-round!

I figured as much, once a year just seems a little odd. Hope it eventually gets up here permanently, as 4 movies in 3 days is kind of tight, especially with all the other anime I'm watching >_>. Anyways, yeah, keep up the good work here at Crunchy, guys, especially the people in the licensing department.

Sorry but I doubt CR can have movies like these year round, anime movies are on a whole different level compared to anime TV shows. On the other hand, what would be the point if these movies were available year round instead during Global Shinkai Day? It would be defeating the purpose.

So I can balance my anime and not have to dedicate 3 days to movies and such. I've got a lot of shows to catch up on right now as it is.
I know it's extremely unlikely, I'm just saying it'd be really convenient.

I've still never seen 5 centimeters per second, voices of a distant star, or children who chase lost voices so I will definitely give those a look this weekend

I have just figured out (by looking at the "Source" word on the image below), that the job of the main character was a programmer (code developer)!

Then I've pressed pause and tried to detect what language is this...
On the left side you could under "Project Explorer" there are files with extensions: .xml, .jar, .ico, .scd, .ap, .jsp, .cdo...
Under "Libraries" you could see again ".jsp" and alike..
Which all sounds like a web based jsp-java application (web site) which is somewhat close to me.. But.. If you would see at the Source code itself.. You could notice something different and very close to the next:

                                                if (isset($_SESSION['login_user'])) {
                                                }else {
                                                               echo '<a href="login.php?var=">Login</a>';
                                                               }
                     //can't see
}
function something_loop() {
                    global $user_name;
                    db_connect();
/if ()/*cannot see what but seems like disabled code*/ {
                    $query = "SELECT * FROM user_something WHERE user_id='$user_name'";

And so on.. And this is definitely PHP/MySQL languages code! Something that I was doing since school days till now!
And also is usage of open source developments!
Also, of course, it means that the computer screen of the main character is "fake" as the above file extensions have nothing to do with the source code in the middle.. But, still, choosing an open source web language on the main screen was imo a good choice even if it was not conscious.

Another incredible coincidence in my story, that here where I live today is the first really warm day after the winter!! Warm and shiny!
I've totally forgot about the GSD but somehow yesterday evening loaded up crunchyroll and discovered the announcement!
It turned to be a magic!
Of course, cherry and sakuras do not yet bloom here, only snow gets almost totally melted.. But, I've seen a butterfly today:

And some other most shiny pictures from the today's walk:

Thanks again to everyone who made this day happened!

PS. Pardon for the big post, but I believe sharing these great emotions is something very good to do!

I myself have seen Children Who Chase Lost Voices some 3 or 4 times now since I got the dvd around the end of November, and watched the dub of 5 Centimeters Per Second earlier today. Both of them are great movies, and the other two probably are as well. Part of me wishes 5 Centimeters was a bit longer though, but it's still able to hit you in the feelings. Does anyone know of where the dvd could be bought, preferably for lower than $30?

Unfortunately, the DVD is no longer being produced, but you can find it available second-hand (either new or used) on Amazon for around $30.

So are the other 3 animes just as melancholic/depressing as '5cm Per Second'?

I don't know whether I should marathon these, or space them out between happier things.

Thanks, I had actually looked on Amazon, but the ones that came straight from them (and were the cheapest) were currently out of stock. Though if all else fails I could always contemplate paying a bit more.
