Why are there no anime where the protagonist is an old chick? |

I want to watch an anime about a mid age woman...
To be frank I'm so sick of watching EVERY anime about some young chicks and one dude. Edit: WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO BRING OUT THE OLD HONIES? if they make an anime all about old honies they got to make it big, they should let SUNRISE(or another subsidy of Bandai) to make it |

Tits and hips sell, man.
Oh, and abs. Can't leave the sparkling vampires out. |

As long as you keep getting born, it's alright to die some times.

Well, the only example I can think of is Howl's Moving Castle, but even then, she's originally young. ;P

Only Yesterday (Omohide Poro Poro) is a very interesting and heart-warming movie by Isao Takahata. The protagonist is in her thirties and the plot revolves around her coming to terms with past relationships and decisions. Another (quite sombre) josei series is Natsuyuki Rendezvous. This one deals with a multitude of emotionally complex themes such as life after the death of a loved one. The female protagonist, Rokka, though relatively young (late twenties) is endearingly old-fashioned and holds certain values like chastity and loyalty close to heart.

Young people have all the energy and experience life with fresh eyes. They're the best candidate for all the adventures, or at least the action and romance and slice-of-life kind. And they're still good looking and easier to draw simple. Older people are... well... boring in comparison. Like you wouldn't want to draw a main character in her fifties jumping up and down and getting excited and glomping people all day or getting angry with a high pitched voice like every other high school girl in anime does. Nor are old men samurai as fun to draw all sexy-like with their flowy long hair and abs while slicing some bad guy in two. It's true. Youth sells better, especially to a youthful audience. Or those that are interested in youthful characters...
Not that I wouldn't mind a change of pace every once in a while with older main characters. If they did it right I would enjoy it. The dumb moe high school girls get on my nerves sometimes. |

Moribito was excellent. Loved that show. Balsa is awesome. |

old lady >_> You mean like the golden girls? She would probable break a hip, or raise her blood pressure completing simple tasks.

It's a crying shame I can't think of any. If they did, it would probably be a series targeted to older ladies, which I'm not thinking is considered a big market. The biggest anime consumers tend to like their girls young and fresh, of course.
